Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Karel Ančerl conducts Smetana - From Bohemia's Woods And Fields / Vltava & Dvořák - In Nature's Realm / My Home. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Supraphon 1975 Czechoslovakia release
Karajan conducts Sibelius - Symphonie Nr. 5 Op. 82 & Tapiola Op. 112. Berlin Philharmonic. Deutsche Grammophon 1965 German release
Had a friend over for a listening session, a bit of this, a bit of that. On to E.L.P. - Brain Salad Surgery
From earlier.

k.d. lang – Shadowland (Sire 1988)

Really like the wall of sound on this album.
Jim,

My copy came in flat on high quality vinyl. SQ is first rate. Recommended!
Finally snagged John Hartford’s Aereo-Plain. Been waiting for nice one one to ’fall through the cracks’ (bid on quite a few, but lost every time), but not to be, so spent the cash necessary. So, a bit pricey, but never owned it personally. Wish I had, ’back in the day’. Suppose to be a ’high’ VG+ vinyl condition. Hope so. Fingers crossed.
some great music being played…..

Leonard Cohen - Can’t Forget - A Souvenir of the  Grand Tour
Steve - oh what a relief to hear, will get that for sure. i just love her piano touch and tone…..
Finally started. I have a half vile of the PPT paste. First up, all of the fuses in my SMc amp,..all 7 of them. Whoo, I was sweatin’! Had a real small angled, long handled artist’s brush ready for the task. BTW, my fuses here, are the Hi-Fi Tuning.

Also, while I was under the hood, removed two Bybee IQSEs, as they aren’t compatible with the PPT stuff. I had great success in putting one inside each of my speaker ports a year ago. Will dbl that effort later.

More to come......
PJ - To Bring You My Love

42 on the ARC, 1.2 kw on tap, ya man…. She is right here w me….
My amp/subs were off line for one hour. Decided to take all of the iQSEs out of the speakers. Will evaluate them later. I think my electronics are back up to listening intently now.
On the Garbage lp, that is new to me ( I do own most of their stuff), I wasn’t thinking it’s sonics were all that, until the last two songs, that’s when I figured my amp/subs were coming back towards a nice operating temp.
The Mike + Ruthy Band – Bright As You Can (Humble Abode Music 2015)
Sides 3-4
Jonah Tolchin – Clover Lane (Yep Roc Records 2014)

Sweet record. Check it out. Wooden Wand vibe.
V/A “Detroit On A Platter” AutoMotive Records 1981
(classic version of “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” by Destroy All Monsters during the Ron Asheton era in this compilation)

Fred Frith “Cheap At Half The Price” Ralph Records 1983

Nels Cline + Devin Sarno “Rise Pumpkin Rise” Volvolo Records 1997

Blonde Redhead “in an expression of the inexpressible” Touch and Go 1998

@boxer12 +1 for Bardo Pond Vol. 1 & 2

The Degritter arrived today. Much more fun than  my Spin Clean. So far 24 cleaned and counting.

listening while I “work”

Roger Waters / The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking.  The worst first.  Cleans up nicely but won’t repair scratches. I’ll need to find a better copy

Dusty Springfield / The Look of Love

Marvin Gaye / What’s Going On

Beck / Sea Change

Rush-2112 Mercury 1976

Not sure where to go from here. Can’t decide if this was just the perfect vinyl for tonight, or if my recently rescued Linn Basik with a 40 year old cartridge could actually sound better than my modded PL-630.
@j_husker  - I haven't heard either of your TTs, so I can't say which is better. But I did enjoy a Linn Axis, w/Basic Plus tonearm and K9 cartridge for many years. Loved. Close and play at it's best!

Oh, and how do you follow up 2112? Maybe "A Farewell to Kings"?
The Beatles - "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" Fantastic, and I'm not even a real Beatles fan....
Been awhile since I’ve posted.
Tonight:

The Tubes, Outside Inside

Queensrÿche, Empire

+1 for Queensryche. Saw them in my youth at the Lake Hills roller rink in Bellevue, WA. Glad I’ve no pictures to share, lol,

J. J. Cale / Troubadour

the Degritter really cleaned this up nicely. I thought I’d bought a bad copy. It’s very quiet now. Great f’n album, though I usually pick up the needle before “Cocaine”, I listened through tonight just because it sounded great.

It’s been quite a while.  Hope everyone is doing well.  We went through a major remodel and the two channel room was full of furniture so no music there for about 5 months.  During the process, I replaced my First Watt amp with an an Accuphase P-360.

Connected everything tonight and it sounds great!  Nice to have the room back.

Doobie Brothers - Toulouse Street
Beatle - White Album (Giles Martin reissue)

Lots of great music, welcome back all…

Albert King and Stevie Ray - In Session ( server )
@sourpuss123-Keep your Spin Clean around. When I have very dirty records, I give them a spin in the Spin Clean (with 3 drops of Tergikleen in the tank) prior to a dip in the Degritter. Keeps the filter much cleaner in the Degritter.

You might find this article helpful. It covers the ultrasonic tank (the non-removable tank) cleaning plus vinegar flush recommended every 200~300 records depending on how dirty your records are to prevent mold growth-yuk!  This information is not in the manual packed with the machine. The vinegar flush is mentioned on Degritter’s website.

While you’re at it, if you haven’t already read this:
https://thevinylpress.com/app/uploads/2021/03/PAC-Vinyl-Records_2021-03-01_pdf.pdf

It’s well worth reading particularly the section relating to surfactant usage in the Degritter.

Enjoy!
