Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Vandys where the eye opener that exposed me to true home hifi. Sometime in the mid to lte 80’s (bad memory) a friend invited me over to his brother-in-laws house to hear this system I had heard so much about. I think the components were CJ, but I can’t recall exactly because I was so blown away by the Vandys and the CD player. Up to that point I had owned or heard midfi stuff, and heard some awfully good gear at local hifi shops, but those absolutely got me. That was 30 or more years ago and I remember it vividly.

Jimmy Smith, I’m Movin On spinning right now.
Second spin for this….

Tom Petty - Wildflowers & All The Rest. Warner 3LP gatefold 2020
Hindemith - Die 7 Kammermusiken. Concerto Amsterdam. Telefunken 3LP box 1969
Michael Franks  -  Tiger In The Rain    Direct Disc Labs issued this and is cut at half-speed from the original master tapes.  Sounds great!  Michael Franks has such a pleasant voice.

Tania Maria  -  Love Explosion   I forgot how good this album is.  Latin/Jazz/Fusion music that's really good and the SQ is really dynamic.  The bass is fabulous, really deep and punchy.  It's been a very long time since I listened to this album so I will have to listen to it again, very soon.

I've really been enjoying this Bill Evans three-record set I picked up on RSD.

Me too
+1 mammothguy54 Tania Maria gets very little mention here. If you don’t have "Forbidden Colors" 1988 Capitol release, please consider purchasing this 5 star audiophile level recording it could be her best.
@dayglow   Thanks for that information.  I'll search for it, either new or on Discogs.  I bought Love Explosion when it first came out, in 1984.  I'm surprised that I didn't get her next album.  Maybe today, though!
@mammothguy54 Just want to let you know I have the vinyl version of "Forbidden Colors" do not know if the cd version has audiophile level sound quality.
Alois Klíma conducts Prokofiev - Summer Day Suite, Op.65, Prague Chamber Orchestra & A Winter Camp Fire, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. Crossroads, date unknown, but probably late 60’s
Garcia Band-Cats Under the Stars

@spiritofradio Israel is an all time favorite jazz record, but it’s one of those I have to make sure I get 45 minutes of uninterrupted listening time for it. Darken the listening room, light a candle, and drop the needle. I really enjoy that record.
Evgeni Svetlanov conducts Tchaikovsky - The Seasons. The U.S.S.R. Symphony Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks/Мелодия 1978. Demo/radio station copy. Beautiful recording.
Mehta conducts Scriabin - Poem Of Ecstasy, Op. 54 & Schönberg- Transfigured Night, Op. 4 (1943 Revised Version). Los Angeles Philharmonic. London 1967
@j_husker, I’ve got Kai and JJ in the on deck circle for later. For now around here it’s the sweetness of:

Maynard Ferguson & His Orchestra
The Complete Roulette Recordings Of The Maynard Ferguson Orchestra
1994 Mosaic Records compilation

14 Records - unimaginably good sound

I love this band.

Record 1, recorded May of 1958
Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft
Ludwig van Beethoven Konzert Für Klavier Und Orchester
Nr. 5 Es-Dur Op. 73
Wilhelm Kempff, Klavier
Berliner Philharmoniker
Paul van Kempen, Dirigent
18131 (Germany)1955 Mono (Tulips)

Generic gatefold sleeve with stitched edges. Sound is magical. Even without a mono cart and with the air conditioning situation.
