Vandys where the eye opener that exposed me to true home hifi. Sometime in the mid to lte 80’s (bad memory) a friend invited me over to his brother-in-laws house to hear this system I had heard so much about. I think the components were CJ, but I can’t recall exactly because I was so blown away by the Vandys and the CD player. Up to that point I had owned or heard midfi stuff, and heard some awfully good gear at local hifi shops, but those absolutely got me. That was 30 or more years ago and I remember it vividly.

Michael Franks - Tiger In The Rain Direct Disc Labs issued this and is cut at half-speed from the original master tapes. Sounds great! Michael Franks has such a pleasant voice.
Tania Maria - Love Explosion I forgot how good this album is. Latin/Jazz/Fusion music that's really good and the SQ is really dynamic. The bass is fabulous, really deep and punchy. It's been a very long time since I listened to this album so I will have to listen to it again, very soon.

+1 mammothguy54 Tania Maria gets very little mention here. If you don’t have "Forbidden Colors" 1988 Capitol release, please consider purchasing this 5 star audiophile level recording it could be her best. |
@dayglow Thanks for that information. I'll search for it, either new or on Discogs. I bought Love Explosion when it first came out, in 1984. I'm surprised that I didn't get her next album. Maybe today, though! |
@mammothguy54 Just want to let you know I have the vinyl version of "Forbidden Colors" do not know if the cd version has audiophile level sound quality. |

@spiritofradio Israel is an all time favorite jazz record, but it’s one of those I have to make sure I get 45 minutes of uninterrupted listening time for it. Darken the listening room, light a candle, and drop the needle. I really enjoy that record. |

Kempff, wow. Makes this sound so effortless. |
