Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Jim,

I'm glad you're at a place where you feel it's worthwhile to investigate cleaning methods.
I've been investigating AP 45 rpm lps lately.
While I own Shelby Lynn, when Chad opened the gatefold of "Just a Little Lovin'", Wow!!

I will order it!
The soundstage on the Getz/Gilberto is awesome!

The extension/natural sound if the sax is greatly appreciated, so breathy
Steve Winwood’s "Nine Lives" from 2008. His first non-commercial effort since Traffic petered out. Nicely done and well recorded. Even a tasty Eric Clapton solo on one cut. When’s the last time for that from Clapton. Early 70’s around Layla maybe. A pleasant surprise all around. The boy’s still got it, or at least did 13 years ago. Just got the CD yesterday.

Also listened to some superlative Winwood on Stomu Yamasta.s "Go" and "Go in Paris" along with fine accompaniment from Al Dimeola, Mike Shrieve, and someone whose name I forget from Tangerine Dream. Stomu’s contribution was an at times overblown fusion composition , but that couldn’t hold the other musicians back. Winwood’s vocals were exemplary and Dimeola's guitar was on fire as needed.

Eva Cassidy "American Tune"
Blix Street
First time on vinyl
Expensive but totally worth it!!!
So true slaw. If Winwood got rid of that infernal bongo player, "Gimme Some Lovin’" could have fit seamlessly right into "Nine Lives".

Mike
The Smiths / Meat is murder
This one is a classic. Many years ago, I was listening to it very loud with headphones on while in a hotel room in Tianjin China (we were starting a plant there at the time) & was smoking a fat Cuban cigar.  When it came to a quiet portion in the album I heard all this commotion outside my room. It was the hotel staff... Apparently I set off the hotel fire alarm with my cigar & they were on their way in to put it out. LOL.
Haven't dealt that far into it brother.

Sometimes, letting the ,(your) senses just go.... makes a big difference.
Chris Squire  /  Fish Out of Water
First time hearing, like it lots!

Corea  /  Mad Hatter
LOL, every time I see that album I automatically think of it.

Swans / Leaving meaning
One of the mellower albums from this band.
great story - Chinese fire dept. i spent a bit of time there, oh the stories tellable and untold.....IF we ever get together over cigars and Clapton, remind me of Tai chi on the Great Wall....
Steve - my opinion of 45 rpm Getz / Gilberto.....breathtaking.....like a high speed big tape protection master.....hovering near saturation..but masterfully a db away......
Joan Armatrading "S/T"
Intervention Records
produced by the great Glyn Johns  Recommended!!
Travis "The Man Who"
Craft Recordings

Craft is releasing on vinyl, for the first time, all of Travis. I think some would like. Perfectly crafted pop. Their front man, Fran Healy also has a great solo lp, Wreckorder.
Steve, yea, I noticed it was very quiet in here. Was watching a live performance of the Berlin Philharmonic earlier, and catching up on some YouTube regulars.

Now......vinyl time...
An interesting event to me,

A fellow music lover contacted me a few weeks ago with interest in the MyMat.

Turns out, he lives a couple miles from me.

Delivering next week.
Curved Air ‎– Air Cut (Warner Bros. 1973)

Sounds as fresh as it did almost 50 years ago. Heck, who am I fooling? It’s classic 70s. And then there’s Sonja. 'Easy' is simply brilliant.
Scott Hamilton And Warren Vaché ‎– With Scott's Band In New York City (Concord Jazz ‎1978)
Steve.....Wow, that’s fantastic. Just don’t give him my second one 😁

The person I ended up buying new tubes from actually lives in my city. Questioned him about the quality and method of matching the set of 4 #1, and whether I could pick them up personally #2. He seems to prefer shipping regardless, which is a little odd I thought. But, he sells ‘tons’ of tubes, so whatever....his method of operation. Some folks are just comfortable doing it one way, or perhaps being over protective.

Thanks again for that Joni Blue album (and second MyMat) Steve, an incredibly fair bargain.
