Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Alois Springer conducts Roussel - Piano Concerto, Op. 36 & Ravel - Piano Concerto In G Major. Hamburger Symphoniker With Maria Littauer, piano. Turnabout 1971
Thanks Steve. I know 'thicker' ones exist, I just have a bunch of the 'normal' ones. I'll check that out.

I began putting all my albums in outer sleeves since getting back into vinyl.
Thanks for the link Steve.  I've been using Bags Unlimited sleeves, but they are really snug on double albums and won't fit on some.
Arrived today:

Sophia Pfister EP. She signed this one in gold ink on the cover. Looks nice!
.....................................................

My new to me Origin Live motor package arrived as well.
Steely Dan - Can’t Buy a Thrill  (ABCX-758) listened to after seeing Greg and Joel’s exchange on this album.  Sounds pretty good on my system but I agree it does not match up sonically to later Steely Dan recordings

ZZ Top - Deguello
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle
As stated previously, I played 'Aja' that I have a NM copy of from MFSL.  Since last playing this album I have made several upgrades to my system.  I have never heard it this good, it was amazing!  What an excellent album of music and it's production quality.  The best of both worlds.

Sophia Pfister EP  Mine arrived a couple of days ago and also was signed in nice gold ink.  My favorite song on the EP is Faded Tattoo.  It's a very good album and is available for a very low price.  Well recommended.
Hey @nicks25,

Hope your shoulder has mended. Are the new components broken in yet?
Glad to hear you liked the Sophia Pfister, Joel. Looking forward to mine which is on next.
@slaw
Shoulder is perfect - no pain and full range of motion so very happy with the outcome.  Cycling and playing golf with no issues.  Thanks for asking.
Everything is broken in now.  Just purchased a vintage pair of Equasound speakers. I owned these speakers from 1971 until 1990 and then sold them.  Always regretted that sale and began looking for them again about 5 years ago.  The company went out of business in the early 80s.   Anyway, I found a pair on OfferUp in Chicago and had them shipped to San Diego,  I had new tweeters, woofers and crossovers built and just got them back.   They sound great!

Still enjoying the two MyMats.  Glad that you recommended them.

Hope all is well with you.

Dave Mason - It’s Like You Never Left

Not many have ever heard of them.  The two founders were from LA and that was their primary market.  I actually purchased my original set in a small stereo shop in eastern Ohio.
Birdy "S/T".
...........................................................

Just read the post on Audio Asylum regarding how Equasound was started.
The crossovers were encased in plastic for secrecy.
My crossovers were encased in plastic as advertised.  One crossover was reading more than 10% different than the other one so I decided to have new crossovers built.  The tech that worked on the speakers had to slowly melt the crossovers to get the specs and then he built 2 new crossovers.  He said the smell was pretty bad while melting one of the crossovers!

Joe Jackson - Night and Day
Chuck Prophet "Brother Aldo"
I’m a fan.....

On "Scarecrow", Chuck's guitar and playing is sounding eerily similar to Richard Thompson.
Liz Story "Solid Colors" Windham Hill Records/1982/1/2 speed.

Gonna play it through, however, will return it as it isn't as described.
I own several copies of Dire Straits "S/T" lp. I came to believe it was sorta dark sounding by comparison. Yes. But this MFSL/45rpm copy has alleviated that montra. This copy sounds so F...in' great!

Tonight we're playing some GoGo Penguin - S/T 2x180g which is awesome, while also catching up on some paperwork from the week which is not so awesome.
Thank goodness Steve. Been a very busy week.

Finally *really* relaxing....and the Trumpet sounds Iike it may, indeed, be beginning to open-up a little bit more. Didn’t think that was possible. Or maybe everything just sounds incredible this evening.
@bkeske  Yes indeed, sometimes the system just seems to sound better on some play sessions than others.  Don't know why, but it seems to be the case.  Puts a smile on your face, for sure.😊

Jade Warrior   'Floating World'
Jade Warrior   'Waves'
A couple of albums I got when living on campus, back in 1976.  Weird stuff, haven't listened to it in many years.  But still fun, and good memories.

And I agree so much.  The Dire Straits S/T on MFSL 45 RPM is phenomenal.  It's really something special.  My original copy doesn't even come close.  It's a real treat listening to the MFSL issue.
@mammothguy54

Yes indeed.....I think it is a combination of things....but no doubt the Hagerman is at the heart of it. I’m specifically pulling dynamic selections tonight, and the Trumpet is ‘in all its glory’ and really shines on those LP’s. Everything is that much more dynamic, punchy, but also with a nice warm refined detail and control. Very nice indeed.
Steely Dan   'Countdown To Ecstasy'  An early copy from when it was first released.  SQ is just so-so, but the music is wonderful.

Donald Fagen   'The Nightfly'  I got this when it first was released.  Excellent SQ...why don't they make all of the regular release albums sound this good?  What a great album, such good music.
Randy Newman - Good Old Boys (Warner 1974)

"Papa was a midget, Mama was a whore"
