Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Well, my second IKEA Kallax album storage shelving arrived today and assembled. Time to buy more albums 😁
Charles Lloyd - Forest Flower - Live at Montery ( Steve Post reminded me this was in the 2 be cleaned pile backlog....
Finishing up Mingus Ah Um Redux. Sound quality is great and the additional LP of extra songs is well worth the listen.
Nikolaus Harnoncourt Conducts Bach - Konzert Für Zwei Violinen D-moll, BWV 1043, Violinkonzert E-dur, BWV 1042, & Violinkonzert A-moll, BWV 1041. Concentus Musicus Wien. Telefunken, unknown release date, probably the 70’s. German pressing.
@tomic601

Lennie - “The rabbits we're gonna get and I, I get to tend 'em”.
Lucinda Williams- Better Angels

the Charles Lloyd Forest Flower was VG at best, into the cull pile....

all of my other analog Charles is in Seattle, first world problems...
Neville Marriner conducts Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Compilation album of works by Wagner, Faure, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Dvorak, and Boccherini. Angel 1980.

Very nice indeed. Not a fan of compilation albums, but this is a nice exception.
Seiji Ozawa conducts Schoenberg’s Gurre-Lieder. Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus. Philips 2LP Set, Netherlands pressing 1979
TT is “down” currently. Tone arm being serviced. So, a bunch of Pink Floyd tonight off the NAS!
Very nice, lively recording, but the UK Ebay seller was a bit overly generous with his rating. Still, most enjoyable.
Looks pristine. But all kinds of snap, crackle, pop from beginning to end.
May have to break down and get a serious vinyl cleaner or send it out for professional cleaning. My discwasher doesn't phase it.

On Lyrita UK, from 1972:
SIR ARNOLD BAX
Tintagel - The Northern Ballad No. 1
The Garden of Fand - Mediterranean
London Philharmonic Orchestra
Conducted by Sir Adrian Boult

Beethoven Violinkonzert, Op. 61
Salvatore Accardo
Kurt Masur
Gewandhaus
Orchester
Leipzig

To me this is the finest performance of the Violin Concerto I’ve ever heard.
Great musical listening session.
Talking Heads, 'Remain In Light'
Steely Dan, 'Gaucho'   Fantastic recording and SQ
Manfred Mann's Earth Band, 'The Roaring Silence'
John Mayall's Blues Breakers, 'Crusade'   That album brings back a lot of memories. I just got this from a Discogs seller and it was rated NM/M-  It certainly is clean & shiny and no visible scratches, but still plenty of surface noise.  My Nitty Gritty just doesn't get records clean to the level that a good ultra sonic cleaning system does.  I need to get one.  Should be by early 2021.
Peter Gabriel ‎– S/T (Charisma ‎1980)

Bought it back in the 80s. A little noisier than I’d like from a lot of play. Sounds better than ever since the springs coup.
Finally sold my old Pro-Ject turntable. A young guy, his first turntable. Hopefully a new convert to vinyl. Threw in an extra digital scale I had, as he didn’t even attempt to counter offer.

Immediately turned it into two new sets of IC cables 😁

A complete turntable = 2 sets of IC’s. Feeding the rabbits.
@slaw

More Audio Envys?

One set of Audio Envy, probably to connect my phono pre with the pre-amp, and one set of Silnote via right here on the Gon. I received a Silnote digital RCA cable today (for my CD player to DAC) and am really impressed. So, got a set of Silnote IC’s to link my DAC to my pre-amp, and complete the ‘Silnote chain’ on the digital side.

Im thinking the Audio Envy will work well on the phono side.

Slowly replacing all the inexpensive Blue Jean IC’s I bought when deciding to get serious about 2 channel again. Also have a used set of Chord Crimson coming from the UK, and will probably use those from my Nak deck to pre. For the price, those Chord’s seem to have a real following.

Brian,

I had pondered Silnote over the years. Years ago when I had my first McCormick amp update, Steve was using Silnote as his upgraded internal wire. Now he uses his own.
David Bromberg ‎– Demon In Disguise (Columbia 1972)

Great album. Sounds great.
Finzi
Cello Concerto
Yo Yo Ma
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Vernon Handley
Lyrita 1978

@slaw I hadn't heard that particular record before. It was pretty good. The record itself was in really nice shape, but I don't think it was the best recording in the world.
BTW @big_greg,

I just ordered an inexpensive tweek, (conjured in my mind) to use in conjunction with the VPI dual pivot factory upgrade. I’ll let you know how it works out.

Steve, Black Betty was on their self-titled album. I'll be interested to hear what your tweak is and how it works.
Steve, I just picked up a small pile of promo records from a seller on discogs. Most of them are NM-.
@big_greg +1 on Foghat.  Been playing that record steady through since 9th grade
Another BTW, I have a Phoenix Engineering Eagle/Roadrunner coming in on Saturday. Hoping it will work with the VPI & Rock 7.

In addition to that, got an idea on how to decouple my wall decoupling system even further. The best part is, I already have everything I need in house.
The Stones "Hot Rocks" ’64 _’71/2002 ABKCO/clear vinyl.

This one sounds very good.
