Wilco "(the album)"
Nonesuch
need to listen to more Wilco!
Bobby Darin-The Bobby Darin Story(Atco SD-33-131) Side 1 Alberta Hunter-Look For The Silver Lining Side 2 Beethoven/Brahms-Rubinstein and Szeryng(LSC-2620 AP repress) Side 2 SQ Audiophile Poison-Open Up And Say ... Ahh! Side 1 Stan Rogers-Between The Breaks... Live! Side 1 SQ* The Rolling Stones-Lacerated(IMP 2-108) Side 4 Cleo Laine-Woman To Woman Side 2 Pete Townshend-Empty Glass Side 1 Very rarely do I post/play vinyl on back to back nights but why not take advantage of the best(cleanest) power evening! Even the Stones "bootleg" sounded decent. SQ* would have to play Stan Rogers again but it has borderline Audiophile SQ and is a 5* recording. Forgot how great the writing is on "Empty Glass" wish the SQ was better. Cleo Laine great vocal jazz album(1989) worth seeking out, CD might have better SQ? |
Carole King-Simple Things Side 1 SQ Audiophile Michel Legrand-"brian's song" Side 1 Jeffrey Osborne-Don't Stop Side 1 Patsy Cline-The Patsy Cline Story(MCA 2-4038 1977 repress) Side 2 Ferde Grofe-Grand Canyon(London SPC-21002) Side 1&2 SQ Audiophile Gordon Brisker-"About Charlie" Side 2 SQ Audiophile Rival Sons-Head Down Side 2 Willie Nelson-City Of New Orleans Side 2 The SQ crown goes to Carole King/Simple Things due to the exceptional bass quality(Bernie Grundman) The vocals could have projected more forward but it could be the weakness of my speakers? IMO Patsy Cline had the weakest SQ. This was a thrift store find in M- for <$1 If your an acoustic jazz fan I highly suggest "About Charlie" Cedar Walton and Eddie Gomez assist on this 5* recording no need for another Miles Davis recording! Willie Nelson does a great cover of "Please Come To Boston" on this 4.5* recording.

You are the first person here that has ever acknowledged knowing Jimbo Mathus. I love this album and a lot of his other stuff. But I have to admit sometime I don't "get" where he's coming from. Almost seems like 2 different songwriters sometimes. The serious Roots/Americana artist, and the joker... |
@reubent +1 on Jimbo Mathis. |
@bkeske "Sir John Barbirolli conducts Vaughan Williams - Symphony No.5 In D Major" I absolutely love that piece! After working on his opera "Pilgrim's Progress for many years, RVW used several themes from the uncompleted opera in his Symphony 5, probably thinking that he'd ever complete the opera, so he might as well use the music. The opera is worth checking out, and it's fun to recognize the same themes popping up. |
Beth Hart - Fire On The Floor Awesome!!! The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta Excellent Police album. My copy is a bit shy on the low end frequencies. It's a very early pressing copy. Is that the way they wanted the sound, or is it maybe my copy is late in the pressing? The Crusaders - Chain Reaction MoFi Original Master Recording. I got this just a couple of weeks ago and this is my third time to play it. Fantastic! |
Re: Terry Allen I really like Bloodlines. I think this theme album has brilliant lyrics and Terry’s vocals are great. He reminds me of a mix of Leon Russell and Steve Earle. Unfortunately, my copy is very noisy. Smokin the Dummy is a great lp as well. Lot of Leon’s influence here again IMO. A lot more country leaning on side one though it has the New Orleans jazz influence on side two.
