Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Blue Stingrays / Surf-N-Burn
1997 Epitone

High end surf music, high end sonics. Songs like ”Surfer’s Life” keep me coming back for more.

The Beach Boys / Good Vibrations~Best Of The Beach Boys
1975 Warner Bros.

High end surf music, some low end SQ.

I guess all that Grand Funk record needed was a good cleaning! Went from VG to VG+.

Jethro Tull  -  Thick As A Brick   This is the Steven Wilson remix, just came off of backorder.  Rather disappointing, sounds like a standard CD.  My other Steven Wilson remixes (Benefit, This Was, Stand Up) all sound vastly superior.

The Allman Brother Band  -  At Fillmore East   Great concert, not such a great live recording.

Paul Simon  -  One Trick Pony   An excellent album, but really, had to play something to make sure that it isn't my hi-fi sounding poorly on those other albums.  It's not, this one sounds fabulous!

@juanmanuelfangioii

Thats my first Jack White pick-up. Really like that set after streaming it. Vinyl is really good, but the pressing a tad noisy.

Great addition to the collection. Very creative guy.

Kate Wolf & The Wildwood Flower – Lines On The Paper (Owl 1977)

Another that arrived yesterday, but did not have time to spin….

Jack White - Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016. Third Man Records 2LP gatefold  2016

@slaw Steve, why am I not surprised? You've a great collection. She's wonderful for sure. +1 Calexico.
Matthew Barber & Jill Barber – The Family Album (Outside Music 2016)

Recent arrivals,

Calexico "Carried to Dust" sealed

The Small Faces "Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake"

1985/A Compleat Collection

John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band

1970 Apple Records

Traffic - On The Road

1973 Island Records

@slaw

Gotta +1 you Brian on Eels!

Steve, never even streamed it, so a complete surprise. I like it. Much more of a 'full band' sound. May take a couple more listens, but this could become a favorite Eels album in my collection.

Rhiannon Giddens With Francesco Turrisi – There Is No Other (Nonesuch 2019)

Stunning album. Music, recording and vinyl. Recommended.

Grand Funk - Closer to Home.  This copy isn't as nice as the one I played yesterday.

Steve, that's interesting.  I couldn't find what record of hers he played on,  It would be interesting to hear.  According to AllMusic Joe Walsh has 1,732 credits!

Gotta +1 you Brian on Eels!

Greg, I was reading somewhere that Joe Walsh played on a Donna Summers album. Cool! I know he was called to be a session musician at times

Justin Hayward~John Lodge / Blue Jays
1975 Threshold

An album better than any Moody Blues effort by some Moody Blues guys.

The Byrds / The Byrds’ Greatest Hits
1967 CBS

Decent sonics, probably sounded best on a stereo ca.1967. “Chimes Of Freedom”, nice…

Yet another new arrival. Have not had this for ages…

Merl Sauders, Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, & Bill Vitt - Live at Keystone. Fantasy reissue  2LP 2012, originally 1973

Another new arrival today…

Eeels - Extreme Witchcraft  (See My Engine Gleam). E Works Records 2022. European pressing

Bill Evans Trio. The Complete Village Vanguard Recordings 1961.  June 25th Evening Set.

Last Night:

George Crumb - Black Angels (Images 1) TV-S 34610
Berio - Sinfonia (1968) MP 38779
John Hassell - Earthquake Island (Tom 7019)
Sun Ra - Angels and Demons at Play (Waxtime 771917)
Tchaikovsky- The Sleeping Beauty (RCA LSC 2177)

Just arrived…should be working…but…1st of a wide range of new LP’s today

Pablo Casals & Rudolf Serkin : Beethoven - The Complete Cello Sonatas.
All recorded at the Prades Festival except Sonata No. 2, recorded at the Casals Festival in Perpignan.
Vinyl Passion Classical reissue 2LP set 2018. EU release. Originally released 1955.

I have most of these on original pressings/releases, but was attracted by getting new pressings with all these in a single set.

Bill, at first it was daunting, but I'm making good progress.  I've been putting all my new records into Discogs for the last 3 or 4 years, so I often hit big chunks of records that are already catalogued.  It's also fun to re-listen to things I haven't heard for a while, in some cases, probably not since I first bought them.  I will soon be moving into the Grateful Dead :)

+1 Closer To Home…”I’m Your Captain”, love that!

BTW Greg, impressive you’re staying on task A-Z cataloging. That’s challenging. Cheers!

@bslon    +1 Hall & Oates-Abandoned Luncheonette 5* recording.

@mammothguy54    +1 George Benson-In Flight will play on next vinyl night. Not sure about the daily recap but since there was a 36 hour period that no one posted could be the reason?

Grand Funk - Closer to Home

@bslon that’s a great record Bill. I have a number of copies of it.
