Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

@boxer12 @slaw  - Yep, I'm a big fan of Robbie Robertson's self titled album. I don't have any issue with the sonics of my copy, but I'm not as particular as some.

His other solo albums are pretty good too, but not as good as the Daniel Lanois produced first album.

Oh, and I'm pretty much a fan of anything that Daniel Lanois has touched.

Betty LaVette "1972 Muscle Shoals Sessions"

2018/Atco/ROG

One nice sounding album!!!

@slaw

The Jack White album, on first listen is my top pick so far this year. It's brilliant! Only one thing ...the SQ is 7 to 7.5. The music more than makes up for it. I think Jack needs to get Dan Auerbach to produce his next record

That is too bad Steve. That ‘Acoustic Collection’ I just received SQ is really pretty darn good, but yes, a compilation. I really enjoy that one.

My copy is also from that timeframe. The sonics are good but not stellar. The music however is wonderful from start to finish. I believe @reubent is the one that prompted me to get this out again.

Hey Tim,

I remember buying that lp because of it being reviewed highly in Stereophile, most likely, years ago. I don't remember the sonics on my copy being memorable last time I heard it, but that was years ago.

Thanks, @boxer12 @slaw .

Long week, I am going to try to stay long enough for a few records.

I would guess about 7 years ago (or so). I was passing through the area on a business trip & stopped by several smaller record shops. Had a great time.

Elvis Costello / Secret, Profane, & Sugarcane

Bought this right after it was released from a record store in Ashville NC. They had a little display set up to promote it. Glad I bought it. Great album (alt-country IMO)

Jack White "Fear of the Dawn"

2022/Third Man Records

Can already tell the Sonics on this lp aren't the best. What a shame, great music though

@slaw

Ha! Never really thought about that Steve, but you are kinda correct, the ‘big badge’ title block is rather large, but they have been doing it for years.

Hey Brian,

Never understood why Deutsche Grammophon chose to put their advertisement over so much real estate on their lp jackets???

My second listen to this….

Daniil Trifonov - Bach: The Art Of Life. Deutsche Grammophon 2021 3LP gatefold.

@sbank ,

I’m hearing what you were talking about, wishing for more piano attack!! Again on the hand-clapping on "Church" .

I’m overall, still happy if I can get one quiet copy out of two. The first track on side two.... the piano intro sounds nice and appropriate though.

I believe I’d give it more than 8.5 on sonics just because the music is so great!! You’re more likely hearing through unbiased ears than I. Then again, this may be how it was intended?

I am rethinking my cleaning regimen.

Lyle Lovett "Joshua Judges Ruth"

my replacement copy, already see a teeny scratch....

Warming up with a second listen to....

Dawes "Misadventures of Doomscroller"

Blue Stingrays / Surf-N-Burn
1997 Epitone

High end surf music, high end sonics. Songs like ”Surfer’s Life” keep me coming back for more.

The Beach Boys / Good Vibrations~Best Of The Beach Boys
1975 Warner Bros.

High end surf music, some low end SQ.

I guess all that Grand Funk record needed was a good cleaning! Went from VG to VG+.

Jethro Tull  -  Thick As A Brick   This is the Steven Wilson remix, just came off of backorder.  Rather disappointing, sounds like a standard CD.  My other Steven Wilson remixes (Benefit, This Was, Stand Up) all sound vastly superior.

The Allman Brother Band  -  At Fillmore East   Great concert, not such a great live recording.

Paul Simon  -  One Trick Pony   An excellent album, but really, had to play something to make sure that it isn't my hi-fi sounding poorly on those other albums.  It's not, this one sounds fabulous!

@juanmanuelfangioii

Thats my first Jack White pick-up. Really like that set after streaming it. Vinyl is really good, but the pressing a tad noisy.

Great addition to the collection. Very creative guy.

Another that arrived yesterday, but did not have time to spin….

Jack White - Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016. Third Man Records 2LP gatefold  2016
