Windy was my first audiophile recording and the unanimous selection of my first audio club. It was 6th grade, and all the club members had $3 transistor radios. We would run the earphone cords up our shirtsleeve in class and discretely plug in the earpiece so the teacher couldn't see it. If I remember, that teacher ended the year with quite a collection of $3 transistor radios. Thanks for bringing back the memory, its not something I would normally think about. And no, I do not still rock out to "Windy!" |

How about Ray Conniff, Bert Kaempfert, the Four Freshmen and the Three Suns? I've been known to mix them in with Throbbing Gristle, the Residents, Gang of Four, X, etc. on compilation cassettes. They're like my own demented music programs, yet I enjoy them without irony. I do, however, like this music on its own, as well......I believe it's therapeutic. |

Nothing to be ashamed of, IMO. I play bass in a 60's band called "Moondawgs" which gets hired for a lot of classic cars related functions in So. Cal. Our repertoire includes "Deadman's Curve", "Summer Means Fun", "Surf City", and "Drag City", and although we're no Jan & Dean, we got the vocals and harmonies down pretty well. The people still love those catchy tunes. |
I'm not ashamed. That would entail knowing all of the words of all of the songs from 5 albums.

Ah, memory lane... sometimes I'll time warp back to high school and listen to some Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, you get the point, the 70's-80's metal. It winds up being a session, really.

oh, I'm more ashamed of crap I *used to* listen to, than stuff I still indulge in. Occasionally, for s-its and giggles, I'll put on some *later-era* Genesis or any Phil Collins, or some really limp 'smooth jazz' like Grover Washington Jr or Flim and the BB's, but usually only when I feel queazy, but am too lazy to put my finger down my throat -this stuff usually does it.
In fact, I'm going to go home and simply throw that crap away, right after I smack my momma for giving birth to such a tasteless child. |
