Goodbye CD's Well, I started this thread back in 08...and to date, I have NOT gone to a file playback system..I still like the physical cd and Lp medium. I also feel that the current Vinyl playback systems have really matured and become much better at high fid...
SF Grand Piano Home tweeter upgrade oh sombody's done it im sure...maybe not on the forums much or at all to see my post...AG is less a hobbiest site than a few others..maybe someone will chime in. Im not married to the idea of definitely doing this..just a thought and wanting to as...
SF Grand Piano Home tweeter upgrade Thanks for the response Elizabeth. Yes, well aware of the pifalls and then some, which is why I need to hear from anyone who has actually done an upgrade...cheers
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? Just sold my crazy modded 09 Subaru STI 440whp/475wtq with 14K to get into my very first BMW M3....an 05 with 55K mi. All smiles!
good tube amp match for maggie 1.7's? The best tube amp of many that I tried on my 1.6's was a pair of circa 1984 Conrad Johnson Premier 5 Mono's at 200w/ 4ohm. Simply stated...they were oh so musical and seductive..A big palette of rich colors indeed. Depth and scale as well. Not the...

Which moving magnet cartridge mm 4 vpi classic? Clearaudio Maestro or Virtuoso wood are excellent on the Classic 10.5I seI also like my Dynavector HO 20X MC. Its designed to mate with a MM phono stage for loading at 47K, so it's not a finicky coil.
Turntable/Arm/Cart for Classic Rock; $1500 budget You should know that the Dynavector DV-20x while widely considered a great sounding cart..( I use one) it's attributes include a rather laid back midrange perspective and thus may not be your best choice for Classic rock. On my VPI Classic it does...
47 Labs Mc Bee MC Genkides,Thanks for the info. The 6 moons review has it mounted on the Origin Live Silver/Garrard 301 and Shigaraki Phono stage and they liked it too...My concern would be mounting on a VPI Classic with 10.5i SE arm..Seems like it would be a decen...
VPI Classic - Now you have one...... Have mine in house about 2 weeks now. Ive owned the HW-19 MkIII, Scout, Scoutmaster and Aries tables. The Classic reminds me of the Aries 10 combo in signature, but it does surpass the Aries in coherence, dynamics, quietness, and the bass is amazi...
Moving on from Nordost Blue Heaven to...? Hi Dan,Congrats on the 1.6's by the way. Exceptional speaker.I was using the Blue Heaven's IC and SC for a time...I found PNF Audio's Icon IC and Symphony SC were more realistic and weightier sounding..better depth and transparency. All around jus...
C.J. PV-5 vs PV-10's 11's and 12's Owned all with exception of the 11. The 10,10A and 10B models are good sounding, but the 12 is a bit better overall IMO. While the 5 is a classic and was great pre amp in it's day..... it is dated by comparison to the 12. The 12's noise floor is q...
