I try to be friendly to my neighboursm but lately I lend a DVD from Rammstein, and..... well..... errrrr..... There where 5 speakers and 2 subs almost falling apart, and steaming coming from two separate poweramps. AND I WANTED MORE!!!! F**K THE NEIGHBOURS!!!! Sorry, just gettin' excited again....
I see there's a few Floyd fans try Music Of Pink Floyd- Orchestral Maneuvers David Palmer & The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra! I also love any Zeppelin, Floyd, Buddy Guy Live The Real Deal, Supertramp & Steely Dans Greatest Hits, Boston More Than A Feeling, any Tesla, The Cult Electric, Clapton From The Cradle, Chris Rea Te Road To Hell, AC/DC Back In Black, Gov't Mule S/T, Dose, Life Before Insanity, Deep End Of The Ocean play it all loud Mule rocks!
Organ music using the lowest bass octave is my preference. The largest organ in the world with the deepest bass (8 hertz) is in Atantic City. Unfortunately it is no longer operational, and hasn't been for decades due to the cost of renovations. However, I do have a recording of this organ from the fifties restored and converted to CD. One track has an interpretation of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor except the organist uses the deepest notes to show off the 64 foot pipe. It's too bad that my subwoofer only goes down to 12 hertz. Bach would have turned over in his grave if he heard this interpretation.
Here are some individual tracks that are an absolute must for LOUD-lovers: Aerosmith "Train Kept A Rolling" (Get Your Wings) Joe Satriani "House Full of Bullets" (Crystal Planet) Joe Satriani "Cool #9" (Joe Satriani) Deep Purple "Never Before" (Live on the BBC) War "Low Rider" (Why Can't We Be Friends?) War "The Cysco Kid" (The World Is A Ghetto) Bill Morrissey "Hills of Tuscany" (You'll Never Get To Heaven) Jennifer Warnes "The Hunter" (The Hunter") FourPlay "Bali Run" (FOURPLAY) Les Dudek "Old Judge Jones" (Say No More)
"Panama" as sung by David Lee Roth with Van Halen. This should only be listened to at very loud volumes. The Sammy Haggar version is not quite the same. The Pat Boone version (yes, there is one) with the big band backup is humorous about once a year at very low volume.
Dire Straights "I want my MTV" Only the first part with the build up to the guitar solo, and the guitar solo itself, then I turn down the volume for the rest of the song.
AC/DC "Back in Black" and "You Shook Me All Night Long"
Def Lepard "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
Foreigner "Juke Box Hero"
Michael Jackson "Dirty Diana" and especially "Smooth Criminal" The artist is talented, even though he is an alleged smooth criminal himself. And yes, that is actually Michael Jackson's heartbeat you hear at the beginning of the song. This version of "Smooth Criminal" will let you know immediatly if you have tightly controled and authoritative midbass when played loudly. At the live concert years ago they blew out a bank of woofers on "Dirty Diana."
Avalon/Roxy Music..that's a good one. Actually I like that record a lot too. Also, ACDC, Metalica, Dire STraights...yep I agree. It's all good. PEOPLE WATCH YOUR HEARING!....you'll thank yourself when your 50, and are too lazy to do anything but play with hifi.
The Cult- Love GNR- Appetite For Destruction Led Zeppelin- I Social Distortion- Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell Allman Bros.- Eat A Peach Lou Reed- Rock and Roll Animal Jane's Addiction- First album Rolling Stones- Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed AC/DC- Back In Black Gene oves Jezebel- House of Dolls
I've got a question for you folks. Have you ever noticed that while some recordings "beg" to be listened to at high volumes, others really seem to fall apart above a certain spl level? While i'm surely not shy with the volume control, i find that some discs / specific cuts simply sound better at a low to medium volume. Anyone else ever notice this? Sean >
PS... I'm not talking about "mopey music" i.e. music that is slow and depressing and begs to be played back quietly as you listen to yourself sob....
Radio Birdman, the Buzzcocks, the Vibrators and Gang of Four have all shaken the floorboards from time to time. It's the futile cry of rebellion from the box house on the box street in a suburban wasteland.
