What are you streaming tonight?

As we are in the modern age of music I thought I would see how this fares.
We have threads specific for cdp and tt so why not streaming as it is a modern media.
I don't care if you stream Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Paradise Radio or any number of internet stations.
I would like you to share your tastes and method of streaming.

Snail Mail - Valentine

Qobuz Hi-Res

Dreary and depressing. Couldn’t really finish it.

@16f4

Almost forgot…I listened to Morcheeba - Big Calm this weekend on Qobuz at CD quality.  It hit all my wants and needs for that moment.

Wat that your first time hearing it? BTW, that was a "discovery" from Radio Paradise... Thanks Bill and Rebecca!

@reubent

First time listening to Morcheeba.  I may be listening to them more in the future.

King Crimson - USA, Qobuz Hi-Res.  I have a feeling I should have listened to this on my main system to get the full impact.  I love my little near-field system, but it doesn't have the scale of my main system for live music.

Morcheeba - Blood Like Lemonade, Qobuz.  I haven't listened to them for a while, thanks for the reminder guys!

On another note, I recently sold a turntable to our old friend uberwaltz, the OP for this thread.  He said to say hi to the gang!

@uberwaltz ,  Have a Merry Christmas.   And the same to the rest a ya, ya filthy animals!

Nick Cave - La Panthère des neiges (Original Soundtrack)

Qobuz Hi-Res

My internet connection has been hinky the past few weeks.  Enough drop-outs to interfere with my music listening.  Oh yeah, and my wife works from home so there’s that…

Finally called Xfinity about it.  They came by this morning and quickly identified the problem (junction box servicing this cul-de-sac).  So now my (music) streaming is regular and my wife started her vacation today.

Claudia Thompson - Goodbye to Love

Qobuz Hi-Res

oh yeah! just what I need! A good torch singer!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!  To start the celebrations off right, this morning I listened to a couple of Céline Dion records I digitized a few years ago for my mom:

Chants Et Contes De Noël

Chante Noël

This is a valuable reference to me. Much appreciated and Happy Holidays to all who regularly contribute!

Tony Anderson's 2021 album "Nuit".  On the third listen, gets better every time.

Cleo Sol - Mother

Qobuz

what a wonderful album!  She is really channeling Minnie Ripperton in many of her songs.

Self Esteem - Prioritise Pleasure

Pretty frank pop-music.  Some techno mixed in to keep it interesting.

Dorothea Paas - Anything Can’t Happen

Qobuz Hi-Res

Laurel Canyon folk-rock.  If you like Joni Mitchell you’ll love this album.

Allison Russell - Outside Child

Qobuz Hi-Res

I scour end-of-the-year “best of” lists, looking for music I overlooked.  This album reminds me why I do that.  Transcendent voice, wonderful engineering, delicate instrumentation.  I listened to this album first with my favorite headphones (HIFIMAN HE 400i’s) and immediately played it again through my Dirty Weekends.

The Beatles - Let It Be, Qobuz Hi-Res.  Sound quality on this is excellent, you feel like you're sitting in the studio with them.

Yasmin Williams - Urban Driftwood

Qobuz

Nice mellow instrumental music. Acoustic guitar heavy.

Our Native Daughters - Songs of Our Native Daughters

Qobuz

Nice roots album.

Deva Premal - The Essence

Qobuz

Interesting hypnotic music.  I like it.

Streamed Radio Paradise most of the day, breaking-in a new pair of speakers in the office. Moved on to

Bruce Springsteen - "Letter to You"

Spotify

Mahoney's Last Stand

Ron Wood / Ronnie Lane

HD Album - Amazon Music

Bluesy / Bluegrass / Zydeco ... nice recording / mix / original soundtrack

Various Artists - Ska Mania

Os Mutantes - Everything Is Possible

Freegal, courtesy of my local library

The Weeknd - Dawn FM

Qobuz Hi-Res

A nice mix of various music styles in a concept album.

Faxed - Plex

Qobuz Hi-Res

Relaxing and intricate experimental jazz.  Great SQ and a treat to listen to.

Jimi Hendrix: Songs for groovy children: The Fillmore East Concerts (Qobuz)

Isabella leading into Machine Gun on the second disc is insane.

Robbie Robertson – "How To Become Clairvoyant"

@sbank  Thanks for the recommendation Spencer.

Daniel Lanois - "Heavy Sun"

Wow! Awesome. Typical Daniel Lanois, big airy sound, if you like that kind of thing...

Spotify

Eddie Vedder, Glen Hansard, Cat Power - "Flag Day (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"

Pretty solid overall. However, the star of the record IMHO is the opener - "My Father's Daughter" sung by Eddie Vedder's 17 year old daughter - Olivia Vedder. Check it out...

Spotify

Well, it’s been a hectic month, with taking care of my wife after her surgery, finishing the kitchen renovation after several months of logistical problems, and a tree hitting our house. Barely had time to listen to music and I’ve been remiss in posting. Here is a quick summary of what I’ve been listening to, all on Qobuz and Hi-Res if available:

Youn Sun Nah - Waking World

Sly and Robbie Meet the Mad Professor

Aoife O’Donovan - Age of Apathy

John Mellencamp - Strictly A One-Eyed Jack

Sun Records 70th Anniversary Compilation

Cat Powers - Covers

Encanto Soundtrack

Birds of Chicago - Real Midnight

Ok, this is cool! I found this on Qobuz in high resolution.  Bach, Chopin, Haydn and more for two marimbas.  So oddly relaxing

DoubleBeats – Two Marimbas in Berlin.

Mitski - Laurel Hell, Qobuz.  I like her voice a lot, but I was a little "meh" about this release.

Cate Le Bon - Pompeii, Qobuz.  Just started this, but I really like it right out of the gate.

big_greg

Didnt care for either the Mitski or the Cate Le Bon. Not my usual listening, but maybe I wasn’t in the right frame of mind. However, I did find a few things I liked:

Studio One Presents…More Soul

Qobuz Hi-Res

Old school reggae and Ska.

Black Country, New Roads - Ants From Up There

Qobuz Hi-Res

Hard to describe, but really got me chill.

Lucile Boulanger - Bach & Abel: Solo

Qobuz Hi-Res

Gystere - A Little Story

Qobuz Hi-Res

Can’t find out anything about this group. Lots of different genres/sounds. Eclectic, even.

Bala Desejo - SIM, SIM, SIM

Qobuz Hi-Res

When you need some Brazilian music in your life (and to be honest, isn’t that always?)

@16f4 I haven't seen many new releases recently that have gotten me excited.  I've been spending more time streaming old favorites or spinning vinyl.

Spoon - Lucifer on the Sofa, Qobuz Hi-Res.  I know Spoon has been around forever, but I've never really listened to them.  I liked this a lot.

Wig Wam - Non-Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll

Qobuz

I’ve been watching “Peacemaker” and the opening theme is “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” off this album.  Can’t say I ever heard of the group, but not a bad album.

Playing from my "Discovered" playlist on Spotify, via my new WIIM mini streamer. So, folks on the fence about streamers, try the WIIM mini. It's $89 on Amazon right now and it's very easy to set up. I'm using the optical digital output into my DAC and it sounds pretty good. I don't have Tidal or Qobuz to try CD or greater resolution. But Spotify sounds really good. Better than any ot the other streaming methods I've used to date. All of those were relatively budget options also, but the WIIM mini is currently sounding the best of the bunch.

Streaming my Spotify Discover Weekly via my new WIIM Mini Streamer. Sounds great! And only $89 from Amazon... But I do have it running via toslink optical cable to my DAC.

Feddie Hubbard - Red Clay

I am not a huge Jazz fan but this album has me wanting to dive deeper into the Hubbard catalog.
