Do people think that a pair of Purons would be as good as adding a Puritan PSM-156?
I know a lot of people treat the Purons as additive, but just wondering if they'd give me a lot of what the Puritan PSM-156 does if I just purchased the Purons.
The best plug in filter ever!
Puron AC Power Conditioner by Greg Voth
After reading rave review of Puron AC plug in filter, I had got one 10 days ago.
For your information my system is very complicated with bi amping and three Farad linear supplies.
Thus I have 14 power cables, one main power conditioners, three isolation transformers.
I had tried plug in fliters from quiet lines, quartet stecker, IFI, furutech, Nordost Qv2 and QX2 fliters.
I still have all of them in my system without selling any of them.
I am collector. 😁
All of them had brought slight improvement but not drastic change.
But as soon as I inserted Puron Ac filter, it made background black with more details and clear bass.
The stereotimes review is spot on.
Encouraged by the result, I had ordered two more of them so that I can insert more of them close to amps and Dac.
Now my system got transformed with more vivid and clear sound stage but not overetched.
This is the best 750$ that I had spent during last 5 years in my audio system.

I recently received a pair of Purons to try out on my main stereo. I honestly was not expecting to hear a difference as I'm using a full Puritan system (PSM156, Ultimate power cord, GroundMaster, RouteMater, 10AWG dedicated line, Environmental Potentials EP2050EE & EP2750 at the panel, WireWorld Silver Electra 7 power cords from the Puritan to all the gear). I plugged one into the duplex and the other into the Puritan (position closest to the power cord) just before we left town for a couple of weeks. I've always found it easier to hear differences in sound quality when I remove something from a stereo rather than after putting it in. I listened for a while with the Purons in and then took them out. I heard a slight decrease in the already very black background and slight collapse of the sound stage. Remarkable considering how highly optimized the AC already was. I would imagine folks with lesser or very little AC optimization would get an even larger improvement. I consider the Purons to be one of the better values in high end audio. |

Good Morning All,
Our e-mail has been fixed by Google.
Thanks as always for the support re Puron and Swiss Digital FUSE BOX |
@soundlogic |
I would like to add some of my experiences with the Puron and Mark Schifter.
I have been in the audio hobby since the late 70’s. I was fortunate enough to attend 20 years straight of the CES in Vegas. It was there that I met Mark and Lynn Schifter, as I was interested in his Perpetual Technologies products. Mark and Lynn exemplified all things humble, warm and gracious, besides being extremely knowledgeable of all things audio, especially products that represented HUGE bang for the buck! During those fun heydays of the Vegas CES from 1987-2007, I had the pleasure of becoming friends with the Schifter’s.
So, as an avid audiophile constantly reading all things related, I came across his two latest products: Puron and Swiss Digital Fuse Box from reading the experience of others on this and a number of other forums, my interest was piqued and I reached out to Mark and purchased 4 Purons, with the intention to place one on each empty duplex slots of the two dedicated 20 amp lines feeding my main listening/video system. The other two were to each be plugged into my PS Audio P20 Power Plant, feeding my 2 channel audio gear, and the other on my PS Audio P10 feeding my AV gear.
As fate would have it, The Purons arrived precisely around the same time as an upgraded analog board with custom nickel transformers from Jeff Richards for my PS Audio Directstream DAC. I installed the board in the Dac, and also placed the Purons in each dedicated line’s outlet. I decided to “cook” everything and play a signal through the DAC for 48 hours, then come back and listen to some familiar tunes. Well, I was blown away! But I was unsure as to what or where the huge increase in detail, soundstage, bass depth was coming from (pretty sure it was the DAC) but whatever the real source of the improvement was, I was not about to play around with A/B as in unplugging the Puron’s then listening without them, then plugging them back in. I have read numerous times that they often need to be in the system for 24-48 hours to bring “maximum card playing pleasure” to the system…so I felt that was NOT something I wanted to engage in. After about a month of listening with the Purons in the wall and the new Dac, and actually having my system being elevated to a level I have never heard in my room before, I decided to try one Puron in an empty slot on each the P20 and P10. Again, no listening for 48 hours. So, as I wrote to Mark: After plugging the Purons into the PS Audio Power Conditioners, my system was elevated up another notch! What seemed like another layer of veil was removed. The musical presentation became more delineated, soundstage width and especially depth appeared to increase. Instruments are in a more precise place, and when the recording yields it an additional feeling of holographic sound. When I purchased the Purons from Mark, I felt my system was pretty solid and dialed in, and I thought with Mark’s generous audition and satisfaction policy, this was a no brainer to try. Well, I was right. In my opinion , the 4 Puron’s were WELL worth the money, and they are staying in my system. I would say based on my experience, and all the other accolades by professional and amateur reviewers of the Puron, they are right on the money too. I would offer without hesitation: that if you have thought about trying these, you should. I’m betting Mark is not taking very many back per his policy. I am now looking forward to trying the Swiss Digital Fuse Box! (Which Mark has told me: “If you like Puron, you are going to LOVE SDFB!”)
Thanks Mark, for carrying on your tradition of bringing super cool, effective, and Hi-Value audio products to the audio market, that we can enjoy without breaking the bank! And that is no small accomplishment in today’s economy, and this wacky expensive hobby. Tim

Good Afternoon
Best to all - Mark |
rsf507, I tried and ended up buying a Telos Mini Quantum Resonator. Seems like a lot of names.. Anyway, at this time I did not like the effect it had on my main dedicated line. It seemed to make everything more one dimensional and reduced the "air". I did however find it worked pretty good with my modem/router/etherRegen/After Hours clock/power supply room. This room is away from my main system and on a different circuit. It seemed to add that extra filtering that improved the streaming sound quality. ozzy |
Unless you try it out, you won't know. There is no magic formula here. I currently use 4 of them - 2 in similar circuit like yours and the other 2 in the HT circuit since they are connected to the same breaker. The improvements have been cumulative and overall phenomenal. However, when I added one in the InAkustik power conditioner, the sound messed up, so I don't use in over there. Get one and try it in the Audience for couple of days to see what you think. You can always return it to Mark or use in other areas, like other outlet connected to the 2-channel or HT. |
I have 2 Purons. One is in the receptacle my power conditioner is plugged into. The other is in the outlet my power amp is plugged into. Would there be any further improvement putting another Puron filter in the 1 st position in my Audience Adept Response R12 conditioner to go along with the other 2 Puron filters for further sound improvements? |
Haven't tried the Puritan filter but several others like the Furutech Clear Line which I found did ok but nothing wow. The other day a dealer brought over a Telos Mini Quantum Resonator, looks similar to the Furutech plug, and immediately once plugged in it was WOW. Better spacial ques better detail just more you are there. Unfortunately he's all sold out at the moment. Curious if any others have heard or tried this thing out? |

@recklesskelly - I've had LOTS of tweaks in and out of my system for years. Ones that didn't work out so well were the early fuses (red and black) from SR. They actually made my system sound too forward and zingy. The later fuses, especially the purple, are much more to my tastes. The Akiko Audio Corelli and Triple AC Enhancer really didn't sound any better than the Akiko tuning stick that I use now. The Live Audio PlasmaTron 3 didn't do much of anything that I could tell. |
@sbayne you have a lot of "tweaks" from various manufacturers in your system have you found any that were counter productive, or cancelled one out over another. |
I’ve now have two Purons in the same wall outlet that feeds my Puritan 156 line conditioner. (Go to my system page if you want to see a picture of the outlet adapter I used.) Two Purons are definitely better that one. The soundstage has improved front to back, vocals are more natural sounding and the bass is even more textured but more solid. Great product Mark! Congrats! |
@verafiaudio I am good with one. Everything in moderation. |
@recklesskelly |
recklesskelly, Stick in this hobby long enough and you will be a convert. Yeah, it does sound kinda crazy but each addition did add more to the sound quality. I also noted that since I have my sub woofers on a different dedicated line than my main system, the amount of Puron’s on each line needed to be the same. Otherwise, there was too little or more bass... ozzy |
That is crazy 10 of them, I am quite content with just the one Puron. But then I do not have as many components in my room as @ozzy has. |

I added a Puron to the wall outlet that feeds my Puritan 156. The improvement was instantaneous. Everything is more textured with a slightly bigger soundstage. The bass also seems a little deeper. After 48 hours of being in the system the sound really didn't change. However, when I unplugged the Puron the sound did go back to what is was before. So, let it "burn in for awhile" really didn't apply to my system for whatever reason. Based on everyone's comments, especially Ozzy's, I ordered another Puron from Mark and will be using it on a plug extender into the same wall outlet the current Puron is on. Great product and looking forward to the results when using two of them.

How about just one (or two) of the inexpensive “solar generators” with 3600-7200 watt pure sine wave outputs? (Charges from wall, solar panels or both. Also configurable for either only 120v or split phase or just use the 15/20a outlets on the things) Would also serve as normal power backup when power is out… unplug stereo and use power for required loads.. They are getting better and less expensive all the time. (And no permits/electricians required unless adding the home interface box for critical loads.) Dual use, “clean” power, equivalent price in the end and no grid power used for audio. Just an idea.. |
@justubes2 where's link to Carbon contact? I like to try new things that work. |
I performed more tests over the weekend and was prepared to make an extension with a spare hubbel outlet i had. Found i did not have any spare outlet housings and swapped my other T-adaptor in a long shot.
What i found was that there was an unexpexcted difference between 2 identical T-adaptors. The one i previously used for testing sounded as if the volume was down 2 notches or so. The other T-adaptor immediatedly sounded louder. I was not anticipating any diffeence.
I am puzzled, but very happy now with the 4 Purons deployed and work very much exceeding my expectations that i have no desire to some more energy to swap better outlets.
I do, however stall find it will make a difference, i.e the different quality of oulets where the puron in inserted, together having a difference in sound, even with or without the T-adaptors.
Applied some Carbon contact enhancer to 1 puron and noted an immediate difference. |
The short version of this post: using a T adapter (from justubes, 5/2) inserted into a Fuse Box, a PURON can be placed into one of its plugs. The resulting sound is spectacular, bringing you even "closer to the music." Only continue reading if you want more. I had been using two PURONS in a Synergistic Research Powercell 12 conditioner, and one PURON in the wall, in the same duplex as the conditioner. This was a well-established baseline, over at least ten hours of dedicated listening. I then removed the PURON that was furthest away from the power cord (end) of the unit. I noticed a decrease in volume and a sense of restricted dynamics. I plugged the T adapter into the Fuse Box, and inserted the power cord that was connected to the electronics (creating a straight line). The other end of the Fuse Box, and the shorter power cord running to the Powercell 12, remained unchanged. The resulting sound was head and shoulders better than when the process started. It was as if all of the wonderful attributes that others have attributed to both Fuse Box and PURON were enhanced by their proximity. The PURON into the T adapter faces into the room. The blank (opposite) side is next to a wall. Yes, the weight of the PURON must be supported. Yes, I am thinking about what a replacement (an additional) PURON might do for me... So, onward and upward. Just when you are marvelling at what you are hearing, new ways of employing these devices keep pushing the envelope. Thank you, Mark!

These Puron’s are really something! On my video dedicated line I have 3 Puron’s. Yesterday I watched the Terminator Blu ray on my Oppo 205. What amazing picture quality! There is a close-up scene on Kyle Reese face, on his chin he has a scar, but now this scar looks like a stick-on scar or a leech. Anyway, the Puron’s really bring out the image quality. ozzy |
