@ozzyI have come across the exact same phenomena using these parallel plug in tweaks over the years, some of them can make the system louder, such that to do a fair A-B test you would have to volume level match.
I can only guess at an explanation, but perhaps certain filters help improve PFC, which allows the amplification stages more dynamic headroom = louder.
At this point however, I think the increase in volume is not a good thing, Sort of like I hinted originally in my first review, it sounds like the volume knob is turned up to 11. Seems to provide more distortion than pleasure.
I believe it has to do with the AudioQuest equipment. That is, I have the Dragon power cords and the Niagara 7000 power conditioners, their claim to fame is their bias conditioning.Whatever that is. I think the Puron’s are affecting that. I doubt if other types of power conditioners would be affected like these are.
More to come...
BTW, 2 are definitely better than one. I can tell the difference clearly on video. One Puron is good but the 2nd one really makes the image pop.
I also now can conclude that more than 2 of the Puron’s on a given dedicated line can be too much. When I added the 3rd Puron the music started to bleach out, hopefully you can imagine what I mean. The stereo separation was good, but the music no longer had that grip.
The devices work by capturing EMI from the AC line and converting it to heat. Most of them use metal plates or coils coated in various types of carbon nanoparticles in a polymer matrix. The polymer chains entangle (intercalate) with the nanoparticles and in some cases react with functional groups on the surface of the nanoparticles. The particles work like a supercapacitor. Some formulas use additives to increase the conductivity of the polymer, which is normally dielectric. The conductive polymer transfers the current from the carbon nanoparticles via the functional groups into the matrix where it disperses as heat.
I’m not familiar with the Niagara unit or how it operates. However I have looked at the website and I see tons of components, circuit boards and coils. This means it’s almost certainly a different type of line conditioning device to the Puron, and the Niagara obviously does not operate according to my description above, whereas the Puron probably does. I know how passive devices interact, but how active devices interact with passive ones is very hard to predict. I can just say that I would switch to passive devices only, and concentrate on achieving the balance you like by using devices that complement each other. Each electrically active material in a passive device has a band gap that controls the frequency range of EMI that the material can absorb. Getting that balance of materials right is crucial, and if you get it right, you won’t need an active conditioner any more. (unless your AC line is faulty and needs voltage regulation with an active line conditioner).
What I like best of the Niagara 7000 power conditioner is that my tube amps actually sound better plugged into the Niagara than plugging them straight to the wall. They have more power or oomph in the sound quality.
Adding the Puron’s brings out the images within the soundstage. I have found that using the Puron’s before the Niagara provides the best of both worlds.
I have tried the Mad Scientist cable enhancer. In my system it was pretty good, but the Q45t was much better across the board. Yes more money but better.
You should place it in an outlet that will have the biggest effect for your Audio components. Usually that would be on the same outlet, but on the same circuit could also suffice. Try it both ways.
Well received the 2 I ordered today. Want to give a shout out to Mark. very pleasant to deal with a gentleman great service.
Plugged the first one in on the front end side, alone with all the HFC great products. the Bass what i heard first it was a little punchier. the Mids where light and airer. The high where a little thin, but that seem to settle down the longer I listened. The longer it plays the better it is getting so far its a keeper. The second one i will plug in tomorrow on the amp side. Will report my finding then.
@verafiaudio- I have an Equi=Core 1800 MKII and a Deep=Core. Would I plug the Puron in the duplex the Deep=Core is plugged in or in the open duplex in the Deep=Core?
If you have a single Puron – please go into the Duplex or Quadplex where your Deep Core and Equi=Core are plugged into.
A good thing to try – is do the above as noted – but also try plugging the Puron into the EQUI=CORE 1800 mkiii (NOT the Deep Core). DC does a spectacular job with DC Snubbing as well as EMI/RFI mitigation.
I was discussing DC on the line with @rvpiano just this morning on a work break.
First off, trying the SR tuning dots on the Puron’s does change the sound somewhat and it depends on where you place the dots. In the end, I preferred the Puron’s without the tuning dots.
Then, I went back to trying 3 of the Puron’s within my main dedicated audio circuit. I now feel that 2 Puron’s plugged into the wall outlet where my Niagara power conditioner plugs in and then one more Puron plugged in the first bank of outlets in the Niagara gets me the best in sound quality. This sounds better than just having 3 Puron’s plugged into the wall outlet or having the 3 plugged into the Niagara.
Also 2 Puron’s plugged into my dedicated AC video line really makes the image pop! Highly recommended for those who have a home theater system. The colors are more vibrant, and the image is much sharper and denser.
I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and I am a believer. Took a few days to really settle in. Mine is plugged into my duplex feeding my Home Theatre power conditioner which does double duty as a 2 channel stereo. Music just sounds better and I thought the video picture improved and wondered if mymind was messing with me…the only bad experience is that I had in installed while I was watching the 49ers game ughhhh!
Ok now after taking the plug out of my HT system and trying the plug in my 2 channel system I was amazed I heard a much larger improvement in SQ. The HT system was very subtle compared to the 2 channel. I thought it would be the opposite since I have a HFC MC-1 Pro and 3 ground boxes on the 2 channel. I was wondering if my Russ Andrews RF Router on my HT system was having an impact already doing Puron’s work? I do like this plug it’s a winner!
Thank you for your note – and I’m obviously very pleased with your findings
I’ve had an opportunity to speak with a few of you and share some information about Puron that I’ve experienced. It’s been a joy actually, as Denton is in the middle of a horrible Ice and Snowstorm. Entire City is closed down.
Puron is a really great product. Puron will work differently in each system because of the AC in the house. Some people have less DC on the mains than others. Puron is part of a bigger system solution.
Really liked the Puron that i plugged into the line that runs my front end and TV. Heard good things in about 30 minutes of use, with it getting better all the time. Later i plugged the second filter in on my dedicated 20 amp line that just runs my amp.The sound improved, but not as big as improvement as the on on the front end. But still better. I am going to give it a bout week more then add the Q45t to the blades. It sounds like you did get a positive improvement by adding the 1260? Please post more about it when you can. I will post when i get to that stage
What I have noticed that a few hours after applying the NPS-1260 to the blades on the Puron the sound got kinda dark sounding. But today everything is great! So, there was some sort of reaction.
I also have some bad news. I know you are a very big proponent of the High-Fidelity equipment. But what I have now found is that the Puron’s perform better without the HI Fidelity Plug ins. When I removed the 3 Hi Fidelity MC-.05’ that I had the dynamic range increased, the bass got deeper, there is more detail within the soundstage and more of that alive sound we all treasure.
Try it without the HI Fidelity stuff for a while. Let me know what you think.
I just sold all my HI- Fidelity plug ins. The Puron’s are better without them, at least IMHO.
tksteingraber, you may want to try the Puron without the High Fidelity MC- Pro.

Do you really believe that a solution applied to the prongs of something that isn't even in the chain of power to components might make a negative effect after a few hours and then after some (unspecified) hours later make everything better?
You know, asking for a friend... But you are postulating something that doesn't make any physical/electrical sense, but rather reeks of psychoacoustics.
Maybe you should buy a Puron for every empty socket in your house and report back to us about the nirvana you enjoy? Or would only the seller be in nirvana in those circumstances?
Angry? Not at all. You mistake objectivity for an emotion. But that's up to you. Unless it makes you wonder, just a little bit, whether you have been taken in. And again, that's up to you to decide.
Hi Fidelity Cable’s NPS -1260 and Q45t and now Puron has taken me…and my ears are luvin’ it! Well worth the $ even for a value Midfi dude 2 1/2 years into this hobby. The black goo defies logic until you use it for yourself.🤯
