Rhapsody is very impressive and Bob Visintainer is one of the very best guys in the industry. A pleasure to work with. I almost bought MBLs there years ago but could not make the stretch for the 101s. Early this year, I was super-impressed with Raidhos in his shop. I did not end up buying, but I wished I could. Someday, I'll just have to buy something from him.

@rodge827 No more Zu? ( Greg from Bache)
No never had Zu. Have listened to them at a couple of raves on tube and SS. Was unimpressed with both forms of amplification. I’m more of SET single driver guy these days. |

The Devialet store was terrible. They didn't even know how to set up their equipment properly. It is mostly a showroom for Phantom line. In Living Stereo is nice with a good selection, but rigid pricing. Lyric really pushes their Wilson line. Take 5 in New Haven is a good shop with good people. My favorite is still Audio Doctor in NJ. He has a great selection and lots of patience. |
Audio Connection has many multiple systems set up and you don't need an appointment. In addition, Johnny R will never steer you wrong. Just saying. |
Harman store had ML and Revel and JBL home audio systems set up mostly in the basement when I was there last holiday season.

Singer has closed their location on 17th St and moved to a small, what is essentially office space on 27th. I am not sure what they have on display for audtion. StereoExchange did the same basic thing, but they at least have equipment for audition, but by appt only and if you aren't prepared to buy that day, don't waste your time (or theirs) They're at on the 3rd flr at B'way and 17th St. I believe the Harmon Int'l only has their mid-fi stuff. No Revel, ML, etc. InLivingStereo is a nice place but, you better call ahead to schedule an appt too |
If your going to NJ make an appointment with Brian of Charney Audio. He is in Somerset NJ abour 30 mins west of NYC. Less than 5 mins from NJ Turnpike exit 9. http://charneyaudio.com/ |
I'm already set, but plan on clearing my calendar in order that I can troll endlessly about what other people like. |
So, which model impress you, are you planing to buy ?
|
Why Bache Audio in Brooklyn, of course.

Sound by Singer: Dealer for Peak Consult speakers which always impress me at Audio Shows. |
@mapman Harman's still there. Great store. |
Audio Doctor in NJ (Jersey City) has a great selection of gear. |
IS the Harman store still there in midtown? Worth a visit if so. The home audio setups are mostly hidden in the basement.

It's been a while, but when I lived in NYC I preferred Innovative Audio. Before Audiogon; Stereo Exchange was the place for used gear. |
Don't miss In Living Stereo, if in NYC. +1 for Audio Connection in NJ. |
+1 for Audio Connection. Best place to shop! |

Audio Connection in Verona, NJ...about 15 miles outside NYC. |
There are a number of great places.
If you're into analog, tubes, horns and hybrids, check out High Water Sound owned by Jeff Catalano. His service, support, and sound is the best I've discovered for myself in 44 years of trying. Kenny |
