Lenco turntable! LPs 90% and CD/MD 10%. Usually digital if I'm tired and just want to veg. I like early post- Daniel's. He said earplugs to drown out his wife. Oh yeah! |

back in 01 I answered this tread with:
Compact Disc, A 100 percent of the time. Can't aford anymore formats.
Now day's things have changed a little. Music Server 85%, digital disc player 10% and 5% vinyl. |
Since I recently sold my cd player and my vinyl rig(five years ago)... FM tuna---100%( mostly NPR station) |

Mcintosh MS300 Music Server - It's great. I never have to leave my chair to change a cd, lp, etc. My whole music collection in the palm of my hand. The best invention in my era. That's my opinion anyway....... |
Tuner, Tuner, Tuner--how else do 'you' find new stuff??? |
60/40 CD/Vinyl, radio is just too lame in Boston to bother with. |
Turntable, tuner , Otari reel to reel (love to find a scully!), cd |
CD's 95% of the time, otherwise tuner. |
frippneno, cool name! Gotta love Fripp and Eno! |
Computer based iTunes server with a Musical Fidelity Tri Vista SACD player as a DAC. |
Depends on my mood and mode. Lp's via a fantastic front end when I want the very best, and am willing to make the effort and have the time to really focus and listen attentively. However, I love having music in my life most all the time, and therefore have a well developed computer audio set-up (iTunes/Lossless/Wavelength Crimson USB DAC) with over 15,000 tracks. I love the easy/no hassle access to my huge library and the sound, although it is clearly bettered by vinyl. Thus it is PC Audio 70%, Vinyl 20%, CD 5%. |
FM tuner for sure, since I listen in the car, garage, road trips, etc. CDs are second, LP is third.
However, for serious listening, it is LPs, CDs, and FM in that order. |
Turntable(RAVEN AC1) 70% CD (LEVINSON 390S) 30% |

Only one source here - SACD/CD player.
I've recently changed from my much modified Sony SCD-XA777ES with custom balanced output stage (Ric Schultz - EVS) to a new SCD-XA5400ES. A very nice unit indeed.

MOST used is my Mac Mini with Wavelength Cosecant V3 DAC. |
For the time being, 100% CD. I would like to add LP, eventually. |
100% LP - haven't plugged in the CDP for well over a year. |
|
My only souce has been TT for the last 25 years. |
In order CD=80% BLURAY DVD=15% TURNTABLE=4% Tuner=1% |
Wish I had use for my tuner...nothing worth listening to around here. For me cd...wife satellite. |
flac>transporter>berkeley alpha dac or radio paradise via the same route for background listening |
|
My most used source is analogue reel to reel tape, presently.
Best, Sam |
For all you guys with a tuner and nothing worth listening to, spend a hundred bucks on a whole house fm transmitter and connect it to your computer. I just did and it is great. I hooked up with Shoutcast on the internet and they have thousands of radio stations from all over the world. Granted many of them are at low bit rates but I find that stations with 128k and up are very enjoyable through my old MD Etude. Plus you can listen to your cd's stored on the computer and they sound almost as good as the original cd. So to answer the original question, I listen to the tuner 95% and cd 5%.

When the thread started many years ago, it would have been CD/SACD. Now it is vinyl, though I am going to make an effort to listen more to some of the great music I have on CD. |
Actually, the best $230 I have spent has been for an Apple TV. When not listening seriously, there is nothing better then listening to you entire libray in the shuffle mode. While it may not be the untimate sound quality, it is fairly good if your ripped in AIFF. This is my most listened to sounce of late. Internet radio in my system is also a bonus. You can POO POO me all you want but as I mentioned it so great to hit shuffle and let it rip. It is like having your own radio station. |

90% Basis 2500/Koetsu Urushi Black 10% Gamut CD3 MklV 0% Tuner it's broken!!!
Was 100% vinyl but recently I've wanted to listen to music that I only have on CDs. |
No CD or turntable in my systems only a Sonos zone players for internet radio and to read my music server that's it. Different systems around the house tubes, solid state class "A" "AB & "D" amps all controlled via zone players. All zone players connected to DAC's feeding the amps. |
#1 Small Dish receiver. XM and Sirius feeds. This when I do housework, work in the yard or over Christmas for the holiday feeds. Same receiver feeds TV audio thru the same system.
#2 CD player. This also acts as a DAC from the DVD and Small Dish receiver.
#3 DVD 'universal' player. just for movies. Audio portion thru DAC.
#4 Airport Express streaming ALAC files from confuser.....again thru the DAC. |
50% cd's, 25% fm tuner, and another 25% pc/macbook. |
24 and 7 - various FM tuners win out both at home and in vehicles (I have two Tandberg 3011A tuners - one for my main system and another for a six zone home system). We have a handful of good local FM stations including Jones College out of JAX FL. I simply don't want to download or buy every piece of music I enjoy - and enjoy catching them randomly on FM.
Towards evenings or off-days in a more leisurely mode, I prefer SACD, DVD-A, HDCD disks and soon, Blu-Ray Audio. After much effort and luck setting-up my system, redbooks are getting much more "air time". |
Hate to say it , but it's by far the cable box . Close to CD sound and no commercials or interruptions . |
