Nanci was always in my rotation back in the 90s. I still enjoy her sweet songs. Not only did she write good, relatable songs, she turned me on to a lot of great songs by others. I knew Townes Van Zandt's music, but Nanci's version of Tecumseh Valley got me into him much more. Her cover of Sweet Dream's Will Come, brought John Stewart to my attention. Sad to lose such a good soul. |
I'm sad. I can't even guess how many times I have played "Other Voices, Other Rooms" ... probably a thousand. I listen to it at least once a week. Her voice was magical, and she was a wonderful songwriter too. 68 is so young, and since I am about to turn 64 it makes me hear the clock ticking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Other_Voices,_Other_Rooms_(Nanci_Griffith_album) |
