Sad News-- Nancy Griffith Has Passed

Yet another great one gone...  this isn't getting any easier...

Here's one of my personal favorites:

"Sad to lose such a good soul."

Yeah-- my sense is that she would've made a great contribution just by being alive,  simply due to who she was as a person, whether or not she'd been a performing artist.
This is sad news as she has always been a favorite of mine.  I really liked the duets she did with the likes of John Prine and Arlo Guthrie.

Nanci was always in my rotation back in the 90s. I still enjoy her sweet songs. Not only did she write good, relatable songs, she turned me on to a lot of great songs by others. I knew Townes Van Zandt's music, but Nanci's version of Tecumseh Valley got me into him much more. Her cover of Sweet Dream's Will Come, brought John Stewart to my attention.
Sad to lose such a good soul.
Wow, very sad news indeed. Have a couple of her albums on CD. Will have to take them for a spin soon in memory.

Great and very unique voice. RIP.
I'm sad. I can't even guess how many times I have played "Other Voices, Other Rooms" ... probably a thousand. I listen to it at least once a week.

Her voice was magical, and she was a wonderful songwriter too. 68 is so young, and since I am about to turn 64 it makes me hear the clock ticking.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I only knew her name; but after listening to the link that stuartk provided, I just ordered one of her collections.
Very unique artist.
It's been a tough year for Texas songwriters. Nanci was a good one. She'll be missed.
