I believe $1,000 speakers and $200 stands. In 2004. So says Bard.

Well, that’s disappointing as I just paid the same amount of money many years later it doesn’t make sense does it

They were $1500/pair in January of 2006, but I don't know if that included the stands.

Most of the gear in my system currently sells for lot more than the original MSRP and/or what I paid for it.

I think you have paid a fair and usual price assuming they are in good shape.

I think you did ok too.   I am using a pair of 22 year old Concerto and they still look and sound great.   

Buying those back then was like spending $3400 today.    Enjoy , those are great speakers. 

Lots of times with the interim inflation you will spend about the same price 20 years later on speakers. I would enjoy them. I think that is fair price in todays market.

The prices for the speakers that other have quoted are about right for them when they were new. There were two versions of the stand - height adjustable and non-height adjustable.

The Concertinos remain sought after on the used market, especially the earlier non-Domus version, but not so much as the larger more expensive Concertinos.

The stands are quite rare and sought after especially the height adjustable version.

I can't thank you all enough. I have never seen a more devoted group of members who actually care. Maybe i can be helped by your recommendations. I am looking for speakers ,,,,bookshelf,,, which will give me more than adequate jazz and other genres but not paying a fortune. I have been down that block before. Wilson Sabrina, Nola, etc. I downsized in price and have a NAD M33 and VPI super scout master. I will get a power amp to run with my NAD AND JUST Want a strong set of reliable and musical speakers that I can find on line under $5000. Maybe I am looking a gift horse in the mouth and these will do the trick?

@OP Harbeth and Spendor tend to fit that bill well - musical, neutral and not amplifier fussy. US prices are dearer than europe so basically anything from the Spendor Classic line or the Harbeth P3 or M30. The P3 is bigger sounding than its size suggests.

Why a power amp to mate with the NAD M33 integrated amp?

If you have the "curved" fancy stands with the slots/grooves on the front they retailed for $700.

You just bought Sonus Faber speakers, now you need another pair of bookshelf ones?

I have the Concertino Domus as well as a pair of Harbeth P3ESR.  I enjoy them both for different reasons.  The Domus is no slouch and, not being sealed, trades off tightness of bass for more but bloomier bass, if that works in your situation.  The Domus is a thoroughly enjoyable speaker, super smooth and beguiling in the midrange, not really neutral, somewhat rolled off, but warm and engaging.

At the end of the day if forced to choose, I'd go with the P3 because to my ear the Domus doesn't quite pull off the magic trick of the P3s - which are detailed without being overly analytical and just about perfect in the midrange.  But for what the Domus cost, it's a very nice speaker.

As with all things audio, your mileage (and ears) may vary.  Enjoy them!

I bought a pair like 8 years ago paid $1,000 .i still use in my upstairs system .i have a Marantz  reciever which puts out 70 wpc and sound great with all kinds,of music.Didn't get the stands.
