Patio tunes

Hi I'm in quest for building descent patio system and my budget is $500 total

I need wireless bt amp/streamer and speakers. The amp should be portable enough to move it to the outside when nice weather cook-outs going on. I'm not planning to keep amp outdoors, but would collect suggestions here as well as experiences.

Take a look at these amps.  I have the 50wpc. one.  Incredible value, easy to move around.  That's what I do.  If you need more juice, a bigger version just came out.  You can access them both using this link  NEW Dayton Audio HTA Series Hybrid Tube Amplifiers (parts-express.com).  Good luck!

I totally recommend getting an amp from the DTS Play-Fi ecosystem. I have the Martin Logan Forte and it sounds great, not just for its price, for any price. It works with wireless and apple airplay, you connect it to wifi or ethernet, install the app on your device and go. It also has ARC room correction and is 50% off now:

BTW, if you need speakers and an amp just get a pair of powered speakers in the playfi ecosystem like these at half off at paradigm:

For a patio system, powered Bluetooth speakers make perfect sense. Any of the choices in the line of Edifier speakers are excellent. The R1700BT model is hard to beat for that application.

Looks like I'm intrigued by ML amp recommended above. That plus a pair of used outdoor speakers would do the trick

The amp is ridiculous, I have it hooked up to a pair of Paradigm Reference Studio 20 speakers and the soundstage reminds me of that Martin Logan signature soundstage, very open. You can use it for streaming right from the app and you can also use it as an integrated amp with the RCA analog inputs. If you decide to use the sub out ARC will integrate the sub with speakers when you run the calibration. Another nice thing about ARC is Anthem routinely pushes out updates which are free unlike DIRAC which charges for them.

At my last house, I installed a couple of Peavey speakers outside and ran the wires into the living room where my rack was. With banana plugs, it only took a couple seconds to plug them in.

All the best.

@russ69 Ditto the Marshal idea…I have one and it sounds amazing on my deck!  They make several sizes.  They look gorgeous too!

I have a Blu tooth Marshal medium size,  take it on camping trips, Get together s and hotel conventions,  Sounds really good, as long as the source is good it plays loud with good quality, separate bass and treble knobs to.

I'm not sure of your situation, but I'd assume that you're looking for a best balance of performance, cost, and convenience.

Ideally, you'll have a system you don't have to transport in & out, or set up/tear down.  IF you have the ability to get speaker wire from ANY protected space (with AC power) to an area that would provide decent speaker placement and then connect to an amp, this would be ideal.  I have found that amps can be pretty rugged and survive temperatures from zero to one hundred degrees if they don't get wet.  I have one in a garage in one home, and in a storage shed in a boat house at another.  Both have been in service for years, with no issues.

Streaming via tablet or phone is a good use of resources, but unless you have a dedicated phone/tablet, you're music will likely be interrupted with texts, alerts, phone calls, etc.  It's best to find an amp with apps on board with access to popular music services -- including your hard drive, and use your phone/tablet for control only.  I just checked and found some good used examples on eBay for $129 that meet the above criteria.

Good luck!

Have you considered any of the really small but powerful Fosi Audio options? I recently purchased the BT30D to drive some well worn and weathered Sonance in ceilings and I am amazed at the power along with separate tone and sub controls. After years of always wondering I also added the Dayton 10IP66 outdoor sub for some low thump and the whole combo actually sounds great!

There is an even better pro model out now as well.
