Movies that featured High End equipment

Hi
I was wondering what movies featured high end audio equipment. The ones i can recall are:9 1/2 weeks,Wall Street and some old Sandra Bullock movie about monkeys and some magic potion (they had Krell system in it).

That's about it.Anyone can add something to it?Thanks

Sharp Objects, HBO series shows a serious Sim Moon Audio with a VPI table in each episode. Think I saw a review on the system somewhere on the inter web...

Not high end , but the new A Star is Born had a nice late 70' early 80' s Yamaha gear in Dice Man's house....ohhhh
Hi
Old thread yes but still interesting to spot cool gear on the tube.Nice to be able to rewind with the PVR units!!!!
Was watching a rerun of Constantine last night and noticed what I would say were a pair of Tannoy Dorcette's in one scene that took place in his apartment.Probably noticed because I recently picked up a pair myself. All the best

Bosch mentioned above also has a Mac tube amp and a vintage Marantz turntable.  In the show Elementary, the main character has Mac electronics and turntable.  I can't tell for sure, but I think the speakers are KEF or Monitor Audio.
Sorry to jump in on an old abandoned thread but the Statham/Alba film The Mechanic has some vinyl gear on a houseboat. Regret the boat had to be blown up
The Jason Statham movie the Mechanic uses a Project turntable and tube amp (I think a jolida) as a bomb in it.

Two John Travolta movies employed reel to reel tape machines. One was Blow Out, the other Pulp Fiction.
American Psycho - The Huey Lewis scene has some KEF(?) tower speakers and a nice stereo stack - not sure what brand the components are - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzN3qO-qc8U
Californication was mentioned way earlier in this thread. It was an AVID turntable. I thought the amp was a Krell, but I'm guessing on that one.
Meridian system in Gone Girl.

"What was the system in What Women Want"?
Mark Levinson with Revel speakers.

Just saw it for the first time this week, was curious as to what the gear was.
in one of my faves, "american psycho" the titular character has h/k 700 electronics and what i believe are kef speakers in his apartment (in the book, they're duntech). they gear actually plays a role in the film, which is classic.
Assassination Games, actor JC Van Damme playing on expensive TT with Sumiko Bluepoint Special
Heyitsmedusty and Synth

Those studio monitors looks like the KRK VXT 6 (or maybe 8). That wide black dust cap is pretty convincing.

I'd be blown away if someone who had a home studio would go with B&W before KRK, just because the KRKs are arguably a gold standard for a lot of people in home recording.

Anyway, I agree that the cone color is darker than in real life, but thats likely due to the saturation of the colors being boosted during editing. Gives it that warm/homey feel.
TV comedy "30 Rock" often shows a pair of Revel Ultima Salon2's in Tracy Morgan's dressing room...
The best episode of Mr. Ed ever: Wilbur buys his wife a HiFi for their anniversary. (Of course his wife is not impressed.) It is the single long cabinet variety common in the early 1960's. Mr. Ed comes in during the night because he can't sleep and tries to play some music. He turns on a sound effects record which is followed by mayhem. I saw that episode late one night when I was jet lagged and couldn't sleep. It was hilarious.
Does someone know what speakers are the ones on xXx Vin diesel in the bad guy room when he wakes up with the women. they are a blue with a glossy finish.
Slightly off topic, but after the credits for the new sitcom Modern Family, there is an image of a record playing from above (has the production company name or something), and the tonearm/headshell is clearly from a Lenco.
I just saw a 1964 episode of "The Twilight Zone" starring John McGiver called "sounds and silence" in which he enjoys playing LPs of live battle sounds on a system with what appears to be a collection of Mac tube amps, tuner and a Gerrard TT.
There's an Asian action movie "Infernal Affairs" (the western movie "Departed" is based on it) which has some scenes involving hi-end stuff.
There's this Beineix film called "Diva"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082269/
where the entire plot is based on a clandestine concert recording of an opera singer made by a mail-carrier audio geek, using a Nagra IV.

I found the movie to be completely ridiculous, but enjoyed the attempt to make a romantic hero out of an audio nerd living in a jazzy shag-pad adorned with gear.
In the 1949 "Letter To Three Wives" the Kirk Douglas character has a custom built tube console. He specifically comments on how good it sounds. At a dinner party he cautions a guest not to touch it, but she still manages to break one of his long playing discs.
The French sci-fi film noir movie "Chrysalis" showed the protagonist detective playing a LP on a turntable in his apartment. Don't know the brand.
"What Just Happened" with Robert De Niro had Avantgarde Duo speakers in a home system. OK movie, sometimes very funny with a quirky sound track.
nights in rhodane
Diane Lane and Richard Gere

their cabin on the cape had an old 70's turntable and receiver. Diane put on a Dean Martin record and grooved to it
Just saw "The Conversation" with Gene Hackman. Looks like he had an old mono tube system, a Scott mono tube amp with globe 6L6's, an old Thorens or Rekokut TT and a single mono speaker, maybe a Tannoy.

Anyone else ever see this movie?
The horror movie Shutter features some high end speakers. There is a pair in the protagonist's apartment, and a pair of the same brand in the apartment of one of the co-stars.

If anyone could help with identification, it would be very helpful.

Regarding "House", if you look in his office, I think the speakers shown might be Piega's.-- Mrmitch
Obviously not a movie but an episode of the Sopranos had a great looking system including a Sota Turntable.
I believe it was "The Graduate" where Dustin Hoffman had a turntable built into a coffee table...a Thorens TD124, maybe? Then, Richard Geer trashed an SAE setup in "American Gigolo." Not a movie, but Jim and Tammy Baker used a Nakamichi Dragon cassette deck as a prop on their set while they cried and begged for money.
Hi There!

I have seen a Dr. House episode, I belive with a Voyd or Audio Note turntable with Rega arm.

Thomas
In Broken Flowers with Bill Murray, Bill uses what looks to be a silver Cambridge Audio stack, while he listens to burned disks that his neighbor made for him, as well as some of his own music.
The recent episode of Californication had a nice set up with analog rig. Could not tell the brand but the amp looked like a quicksilver or counterpoint....
In the New York Stories, first story what was directed by Woody Allen. Nick Nolte plays a Sony ES deck and he has Sony TA-E86/TA-N86 Esprit Amplifier.

Regards,
Thomas
If you look really carefully I think Elmer Fudd had a Lamm tube amp and Brinkman preamp.
In "Nancy Drew " Nancy says:"Downloads are cool but vinyl sounds so much better" and puts on some mambo lp.Not really a high-end reference but still...
I think the TT in Tomb Raaider was a Clear Audio (maybe master solution?); Sonus Farber stand mounted speakers in What Women Want; TV show House, I think he has a Sota (maybe Cosmos) TT; The TT in Indecent Proposal (I think) was a Rockport Sirius;
A scene in Diehard shows the Carver Amazing Loudspeakers. The "bad guys" say something about them in German.
