Integrated amp

Downsizing from separates to an integrated amp. My local dealer says the Moon 600 I would be a good match with my Magnepan 3.7I. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

The novaSKY Wi-Fi option development is progressing nicely. We are past several design hurdles and are currently in the design validation phase which means the basic engineering is complete and we are validating the hardware and software design. We anticipate this phase to be complete by the middle of July, then the product testing phase begins. This is when we put the design through real-world testing in various systems and network environments using all of the supported streaming services over an extended period of time. Testing wireless devices is time intensive since there are so many variables to test; multiple streaming services, delivered through multiple internet access providers and broadcast through a home wirelessly from a myriad of networking gear! Nearly every Wi-Fi system out there is unique in some way! We anticipate the testing phase to take ~60-75 days. Once testing is complete, the product will go into production and be made available for pre-order. Assuming no major schedule delays, shipments will begin in October.

The nova-SKY module will have a suggested retail price of $249, but for current nova owners, the upgrade will be offered at a significant discount. When Wi-Fi is available from the factory, units with Wi-Fi built-in will retail for $200 more than their non-Wi-Fi equipped counter-parts. In other words, current owners of the nova150, nova300 and nova500 will be able to acquire the Wi-Fi upgrade for less than new customers once it is released. It is our way of saying “thank you” for your patience while we worked to complete this feature.

The nova platform is designed to deliver the best performing integrated amplifiers we know how to build, and we look forward to delivering a Wi-Fi module that meets that standard as well. We pride ourselves on offering products that perform well above their price and this typically takes longer than we anticipate. We believe the results will justify the process, and hope that you agree.

Thank you again for your patience and continued support. We sincerely appreciate it!

The team at Peachtree Audio

Really surprised no one has mentioned the Peachtree Nova 300 or 500, I went from separates to integrated last year and after much review went for the Nova 300 and am thrilled with the results. Goobs of smooth clean power and a fantastic DAC, sexy cabinet with a high girlfriend approval rating. The only people that don't like it are my neighbors!

Do you know if the Peachtree is capable of streaming from a NAS? I see there is some discussion about adding a WiFi module to this, but not sure when that might be available.

Depends on what Hegel amps you are using. The later Hegel’s (H300 or more current H360 or later) are very good with good power reserves for demanding speakers.
I have 3 systems, Two Hegels and the 700i. The 700i is in another league over the Hegel integrateds, as is the 600i which a friend of mine has. The Hegels are good but the Simaudio units sound like separates. As stated earlier you have to test things out yourself. Our opinions won’t really be that helpful.
Depending on budget the s Gryphon Diablo Top if the heap
Pass labs integrated 250.8, or 150.8 $6800, $9500
Coda ,an ex engineer at Threshold, and worked with Nelson Pass
excellent integrated for around $5k
if you only have $2500 Peachtree nova 300
therre are other but these come to mind
Did you get your Maggies from the same dealer who is selling the SimAudio gear? If so would he let you borrow the unit to try at home? That way you could be sure that all is a good fit. In my experience there are almost too many variables from system to system to go on the recommendations of others, no matter how well intended. Just look at what happens with cables!
Good luck!

@toneranger58,  The list price for the SimAudio 700i V2 amp is $14,000 (US$).
You might find a retailer offering a lower price on a demo unit.
For a point of reference on used 700i V1 (6K) vs 700i V2, what is the price a dealer is looking for on a new 700i V2. I think retail is around 18K. Thanks for any insight you can provide. @hgeifman

My retailer told me that SimAudio offered to “buy back” my 6+ month old SimAudio 600i V2 integrated amplifier at “full price” in exchange for a new SimAudio 700i V2 Integrated amp.

After a long conversation with my retailer, I decided to accept his offer. The 700i V2 amp has an oversized dual-mono power supply.  My retailer said the sound improvement will be very noticeable. I auditioned the 700i V2 amp and liked what I heard using my PMC Twenty5.26 speakers. It was a great opportunity, so I ordered the 700i V2 amplifier.   I have owned the 700i V2 for several weeks and it is excellent.

The 700i V2 amplifier has its own dedicated power supply for the preamplifier, while the 600i shares its power supply with both sections. The 700i V2 amp also features a considerably larger power transformer with greater reserve capacity.

My retailer highly recommends SimAudio products because of their excellent sound quality, solid construction and great customer service. SimAudio offers that for any new SimAudio equipment you bought new, they will credit you 100% of your $$ investment if you purchased the unit in the last 12 months, and 75% in the last 12-24 months. This is how I upgraded to the SimAudio 700i V2 integrated amplifier.

My new SimAudio 700i V2 amp sounds excellent. It sounds clearer with more musical detail then my previous SimAudio 600i V2 amp.

Both the SimAudio 600i V2 and 700i V2 are excellent integrated amps.  I hope this helps.

There's now a v2 of the 600 (and perhaps the 700?) so resale of the 600 should have come down a bit.
There is a 700i for sale at 6K. I have one, it’s an amazing piece, plenty of reviews to be found. A steal at 6K.
