Horn speakers are really bright?

Got new to me bookshelf speakers Usher BE 718 I compare it to my EPIC CF4 

And this is the same  song on CF4

I borrowed a pair of the Usher BE 718s a few years ago from a dealer. At the time I had some Green Mountain Audio monitors. The GMA speakers beat them overall. The only thing the Ushers did better was bass response. The midrange just wasn't as real sounding. I can hear more texture in the midrange on the Klipsch speakers in your video than the Ushers. Same thing I heard in my room.

The years have taught me that generalizations about audio are often wrong. 

I agree.  Saying horn speakers are bright makes no more sense than would be the case if you said sealed speakers are bright or ported speakers are bright.

definitely agree 718 sounds different from CF4 but that’s the reason to get it 

I want something sounds different from klipsch WORLD speakers lol 😂 

actually 718 sounds much better with my CLASSE CA-2300 than Hint6 and yes the bass output is crazy for that little speakers 

They both sound good but the Klipsch sounds more coherent.

I think I find the holy grail playing usher BE 718 and klipsch EPIC CF4 together sound so amazing I never experience anything like that in my room especially clarity pin point accurate and bass response 

my integrated Hint6 is powering 718 and Simaudio moon W7 is powering CF4 Hint6 is still doing the preamp duties 

Take a look at the Viking Acoustic lineup of speakers online.  I have the Grande Voix and love them.  I am sold on Horn speakers.

Nice comparison. It's impossible to make reliable judgements over computer speakers, but that said, yours sounds very clear and immediate. I would never guess that there was such a crazy price differential in these systems. I think that the Epics are amazing speakers, and that's why I've kept them longer than any other.

and original woofers no subs just speakers with amps 

I had a pair of Epic C4, they rocked but I didn't think they were shrill of harsh.   Same for my Heresy III.  They were a little lean sounding without a sub but sounded great with 40 watts of EL34 power.    

I have the Forte IV and they sound great, not harsh at all .   I would say this is because I am lucky to have great electronics with them.

Absolutely it does!

@ozzy62 I’m talking about only streamer no DAC 

so I was streaming with Cambridge Azur 851N ,cocktail Audio X45 and Chromcast to my DAC and to my preamp SimAudio P8 and I did not hear any difference 

So I was doing something wrong 😑 or my Speakers 😂

I went from a Squeezebox Touch to a Pi (Allo Digi One), then to a Node 2i and now a Lumin U1 Mini. All of them sounded different. In order:

SB, Node, Allo, Lumin

All are used with separate DACs. All the streamers sounded different on their own.

I do have ALLO USBRIDGE STREAMER with power supply I don’t hear any difference either 

to me the difference is able to pick in blind test yes there’s micro differences but doesn’t stand out

I own Klipsch Lascalas II. They sound divine IN MY ROOM. WITH MY GEAR. I couldn't imagine them in the typical home with sheetrock, wood slab floors, glass windows everywhere. And then drive them with SS amps and I would want to sit on that pole someone suggested. They will painfully reveal room and gear mismatches. However, pristine tube power and an acoustically nearly dead room and pure magic. (I live in a yurt with a wall of books behind me in a half circle) The ceiling is fabric, as are the walls. I've put the 175 pound monsters up on isolation pads. The sub (SVS SB2000 Pro)  sits on a suspension rig to keep it isolated, Raven Blackhawk, Yamaha S2100 CD player in the rack also free suspended from all vibration. Ladies and Gentlemen, synergy is everything. Room, cabling, interconnects, fuses, tweeks all add up to happy days here in the sweet spot. Klipsch Lascalas are mellow fine companions for this old audiophile.  

I listened to both versions twice, but of course it's hard to tell on computer speakers, almost a joke. I did perceive a difference though. The original presented the vocal as slightly softer and more diffuse while the new driver seemed a bit more sharply focused. 

I'm curious as to why you chose that driver as I see that many that modify the Epics use an older Electro Voice compression driver. Had you considered that also?

Electro Voice compression need a lot of work to make it fit including bracing take all the woofers crossover and everything out little too much for me especially with two years old twins around me 95% of the time 😂😂😂

this B&C was recommended by a friend who try it and blow his mind 

the changes from original to B&C is bigger than any DAC , cables, PC and AMPS i have try with the exception of my Moon P8 Preamp 

With Moon P8 and W8 I hear zero  noise from tweeters with my ears touching it lol 

I have own  McIntosh C52  Michi P5 Parasound JC2 P6 Hint6 ROTEL RC1590 Classe CP800 SSP800 and more still P8 is my favorite Michi P5 ROTEL 1590 is worse Preamp ever owned 

I am going to have my Viking Acoustic Grande Voix Dual horn updated in a couple of weeks to include new drivers, Super tweeters, and caps.  I should do a before and after video,  

That is very interesting lordrootman. I have read on other Epic mod threads about changing to the Electro Voice compression driver, and although I knew that it needed additional bracing, I never heard anyone say that they altered the crossover, even Moray James, the king of Epic mods.
