Does anyone make a preamp with a subwoofer output?
nonoise, Is this what you’re talking about? http://hifiknights.com/reviews/preamplifiers/icon-4pro/ You we’re right, the author of the 6Moons review rambled a bit. Thanks. JD |
This should do just what you want: https://6moons.com/audioreview_articles/passivepreamp2/ This is the review of the Icon4 PRO which allows you to use high and low pass filters for your mains and subs. The reviewer is a bit loquacious (wordy) but he had the same problem as you and found this to be the best solution. Here is the site for Icon: https://www.passivepreamp.com/ The Icon4 PRO is only mentioned at the bottom of the site as coming soon. All the best, Nonoise |
Does anyone have experience with this? https://www.crutchfield.com/p_313P6B/Parasound-Halo-P-6-Black.html thanks. JD |
yy, That’s basically what I have set up now, running the speakers full range and the sub comes in at 70 hertz. The panels on my speakers don’t like certain sounds, like the heart beat on dark side of the moon or really deep organ notes, so I want to be able to slope off the bass going to the speakers and let the sub take over. Another option is insert an active subwoofer crossover to your existing preamp, like the JL Audio CR-1 which featured adjustable crossover point and 12/24dB slopes. https://www.jlaudio.com/products/cr-1-home-audio-subwoofer-crossovers-96020 |
knotscott, You are correct, I can adjust the slope and output on the subwoofer. I’m looking to be able to adjust the slope on my speakers. My speakers are Acoustat Model X’s and their design (three wire) I can’t run high level inputs. That’s why I’m asking about if there are any two channel preamps that can do what my HT receiver can do. JD |
Many active subs have high and low level inputs, as well as a gain knob and frequency rolloff settings, which gives you plenty of flexibility. If your sub has hi-level inputs, you can run it from the speaker outputs of your amp. I actually prefer the way my sub sounds driven from the amp vs driven from the preamp line level outputs. |
