Coda or Parasound Monoblocks for Wilson Sabrina
I am about to be the owner of new, to me, Wilson Sabrina speakers.
I have the option to obtain either a pair of Parasound JC1 or Coda Tm mono blocks to drive the Sabrinas.
Wondering if the Codas might be too warm with the Sabrinas, thus better with the JC1s? However, I have a Pass Labs amp in another system, which I really like, and expect Coda to a lot like Pass?
Thoughts?
I’ve gone through Coda and Parasound though not those specific models. I prefer Luxman by a lot. Another brand to listen to, which won’t sound like the Luxman which you should try is Ayre. I don’t own Wilsons but I’ve heard them at a dealer driven by Luxman and Parasound and even the integrated Luxmans sounded really really good.. If you are a Pass fan, I think you'll come out of a Luxman audition with a strong opinion, good or bad. |
I had a Luxman M800A for a year or so and it was very good on my Sasha 1's. I did think it was a little soft or polite, as amps go. I now have a Coda 8 and after 33 or so amps in the last 15 years, this one is outstanding. Grips the music, has zero harshness, plays all frequencies without overdoing any. I also love the operation of the amp; just leave it on and you can instantly start and stop it with the Bias button. This keeps it warmed up and allows cable swapping in seconds. No snaps, pops, or abnormalities. Love this amp. I don't want another Pass or similar brand amp now. I would consider Luxman for a second system if that ever emerged, but not any time soon for me.

CODA is more neutral than the PASS with a touch of warmth. I recently sold a CODA #8 and a Parasound A21+, both new designs. I sold the #8 because I needed the cash and the A21+ because I traded it in for the following (actually 175XD). Krell Duo 300 XD Stereo Amplifier Dealer Ad - US Audio Mart I would get the KRELL Duo 300XD over the old JC1 and the CODA #8. The CODA #16 is another story. Though I think the Class A KRELL XD is like the #16.
