I'd be more worried about humidity. Mold will grow on vinyl; especially if there is something like a fingerprint to help it get started growing.
Can Vinyl LP's Survive In A Room that Gets 95 Degrees?
Can vinyl LP’s survive in a room that gets to 95 degrees Farenheit?
The records will be on a shelf standing vertically.
I need to move my vinyl collection and the room they will go to does not have air conditioning and it will get up to 95 degrees Farenheit in there sometimes.
There will be no direct sunlight on the records.

I think you should consider that vinyl is pressed at much higher temperatures. And when distributed through the country in trucks that reach much higher temperatures in the cargo area that is not climate controlled, they arrive in good condition. 95 degrees is not near hot enough to cause warping in a room. If they were sitting outside in the sun at 95 degrees, you’d get entirely different results. |
While the conditions you describe aren't ideal, your vinyl should be fine at 95 degrees - particularly if stored vertically. Many, many years back (before I knew any better) I stored a couple of boxes of records in an un-airconditioned room in my parents garage in Houston - where virtually every day in the summer months hits 90 or better. The records were in storage for almost two years and emerged in fine shape. I still play many of them to this day. |
while you said that you dont have ac in that room.....have you thought about getting a small window unit ? is the room going to be blocked off ? or something like this just to get you by for now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITtlxjvLQis |
