Ditto for live Rust . . . mesmerizing and sheer genius. |
Tough call, but I'd have to go with "Decade" and "Unplugged". Naturally, I'm willing to cheat here in order to get it all.
"Harvest Moon" is flawless as well, in my book. Oh, and "Ragged Glory" reminds me of the feeling you get when you first join a band, that if you could spend all of your days jamming with your friends, life is good. Amazing album, that one.
Sorry, can't tag just one. I think I might even buy the entire collection if a polyester-wearing gent with a toupee knocks on my screen door to sign me up for a one-per-month club. |
"Shocking Pinks" : ) just had to throw that in there for a laugh even though i really do like it! Streaming the new album now so thanks for the link Tonnesen! |
I just finished listening to the new album on the free stream and it is really good!! check it out. "Let's impeach the President for lying"
Good ole Neil does it again!
Neil for President!! |
thank God he's back! After the "Are you passionate" and the "Prarie Wind" releases I was beginning to have my doubts. |
|
. I just played my TRANS album. Great stuff. |
"Harvest", "Everybody know this is nowhere", or "After the Goldrush". Tuff choice, rather like "what is your favorite Rolling Stones recording". Jim |
the vinyl copy is called Freedom. The CD is an import that goes by the name Eldorado. The songs are somewhat identicial |
So many different responses is a real tribute to his evolution and ability not to be stylistically stereotyped. He's one of rock's few geniuses. A term that is used all too much and too freely.
Oh yeah, Harvest Moon, After the Gold Rush, and Harvest. Can't pick one. |
tonight's the night is never too far form my turntable. |
|
the first album-self titled |
Tin soldiers and Nixon coming. We're finally on our own. This summer I feel the druming, 4 dead in Ohio. why ?
I vote for Living with War
Listening to An American in Paris-George Gershwin-Leonard Bernstein NY Philharmonic Orc. Columbia Masterworks MS 6091 Vinyl |
HARVEST - This is absolutely his best.
I own the original USA Reprise vinyl pressing...
D Visser |
Listen to "Living With War", if you havn't already. Wow! Excellent new material! |
"Unplugged" - some of my favorite NY songs and one of the best recorded LP's I own. The only pain is the sound of the appreciate audiance between songs - too loud when the volume is up! |
ATGR and in particular, "Don't Let It Bring You Down." |
This is somewhat related to the thread: The Heart of Gold dvd is interesting if you are a Neil fan but my eyes were on EmmyLou Harris. Imagine the most beautiful 50 YO woman on the face of the earth and this is what you will see. Oh that platnium hair, the alabater complexion and those expressive eyes...(I'm in love!). |
What's the best CD version of Zuma? |
Jaybo - for a good long while, way back when...Neil's first solo album was the only LP I owned. |
Some of his songs with Buffalo Springfield were excellent as well as with CSNY. After many, many years I've recently purchased The Best of Buffalo Springfield CD. I'm surprised at how good some of the songs are. One of his albums that I really enjoy is Unplugged but then I enjoy most of them. This CD though offers a slightly different perspective. |
After the Goldrush
Best song of the 70s Hurricane
Best live song: On the way Home - 4 Way Street |
Either Zuma or After the Gold Rush |
Just got Live at Massey Hall; it is a great cd! Excellent sonics! Saw him a couple of times back in the 70's when he did solo acoustic sets, and this hdcd is a remarkable recording from those times. |
Sitting here waiting for FedEx to make a VERY special delivery so I tallied the results. It was this or wash the cat. Some answers were not clear cut, but this should be close...
1) After The Gold Rush 2) Harvest 3) Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere 4) Zuma 5) Live Rust 6) Harvest Moon 7) Unplugged tied with On The Beach The others have three or less votes by my count. My vote for Unplugged and Harvest is not included. |
Tonight's the Night, Gold Rush, Harvest...
My next door neighbor in school had to blast "Last Dance" every morning about 7 AM so the whold dorm could hear it. "Wake Up its a Monday morning" - I'll never forget that song |
Lou - not recognizing those titles...what year? album? |
TONITE"S THE NIGHT
Because I grew up ON DRUGS |
The compilation album, "Decade" is a must. Of course, Harvest is the all-time Young studio classic. I love the MTV Unplugged DVD (not available domestically - check out the CD instead). Don't forget, "Comes A Time," which is also a classic. |
|
1) Live Rust 2) Harvest Moon 3) Tonight's the Night (too many old memories to listen to it though) |
Have to agree with Bongofury. On the Beach is a great album. Just listened to it the first time a few months ago. would include it with 'Zuma, Hawks and Doves, and Glendale. |
Too many to pick just one. What's the point? |
No votes for "Neil and the Shocking Pinks"?
That one ain't bad either. |
Well, I like _Trans_ pretty well. |
duh, I meant "Time Fades Away" not "Tonite's the Night" |
One of my favorite and well recorded lesser known Neil songs is El Dorado off his "Freedom" album. |
