Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?

They’re some pricey cables that have claim to fame because of the high tech geometry used in their cables.
Many of these cables have patents on specific geometry patterns used in their cables and use this as a reason their cables sound so good. For that reason, many say the reason their cables cost so much is they’re so complex . The man hours to make a pr results in their high price. That maybe true for some cables, but I’ve seen very pricey cables using the same geometry reason that look like a thin piece of wire rapped in outer jacket no thicker than a pencil. So,Is all this geometry just another way to justify their cost or is it true science that we are paying in the end?

Mr. mahgister

Is it now a debate about stupidity?

Who ever sold a cable (of any kind) with absurd tells as:
Directional,
Silver,
Copper high purity,
Cryo treatment,
Skin effect,
Additional filter box and the latest:
Geometry,
is a: ...
And as for any deal, there are two sides. So the consumer came out stupid and cheated.
Your quotes about the "expression" do not change nor contributes anything.
Sorry but we are all friends here and we argue about audio....

There is not so much thiefs, and not so much dishonest people here, even when we call them so, without proof, on the basis of opinion divergence only...

I call that stupidity.... I apologize if this definition seems to you erroneous...

Anyway i wish you good luck in your crusade against cable sellers..... :)

But please refrain yourself with cable consumers....

Hello b4icu,

I’m not a salesman. Actually, I’m looking to buy cables. I may even try your idea but your attitude is turning me off.
Audiophiles are not stupid. They’re not going to pay $$$$ for nothing. No one does.
You can only con once. Cable manufacturers have been around for years and are still here. Doesn’t this say something?
Mr. madcow

The fact it's going on for years, doesn't make it right.
The fact is, it was a deception from the beginning. As long as it worked:
New tels, new arguments, new customers, the business kept going.
Now it's called Geometry. Till the next BS idea.
Look at prostitution. It's the oldest profession and still exist.
Is that a good idea to use or become one?
Silly example on prostitution. Really. Prostitution has an immense value. For both providers (they get paid for it, it is a job), and the clients (they get something very satisfying in return for their money).
b4icu,

There is really nothing to argue about. You believe what you believe and let others believe what they believe.

Do not ridicule others just because they don’t agree with you.

It appears to me that anyone not agreeing with you is a cable salesman. Seems like we have a world of salesmen.
FWIW, prostitution is not the oldest profession, farming is. Something else for you to think about.

You're welcome
@pesky_wabbit —- Not just confused thinking. Worse. Troubled thinking. Like mentally ill thinking (and I am being nice)

Truth hurts. Often times. Still truth though.

BTW, I don't have a daughter, so I cannot possibly know

thyname,

Sons can get a good price, too.

Hmmm..... I am intrigued. Tell me more. I want to know. Share your experiences
You wanna hear my new triple DNA helix quantum tunneling interconnects.
I plan to make a fortune..............
Is anybody other than me wondering whether the letters icu after b4 have any significance?
During recent experiments I have found that using speaker cables incorporating my triple DNA helix geometry and applying quantum tunneling superconductive technology you can go down as far as 20ga and still have superior control over speakers than the thickest of conventional cables.
They make everything that has come before totally obsolete.
thyname,

"Hmmm..... I am intrigued. Tell me more. I want to know. "
You presented yourself as a knowledgeable expert on the topic. Was it also just a baloney?
thyname,

"Glupson: no Bingo for you today again?"

No, I have not been to the grocery store today.

Looks like this issue of geometry will always a controversial one.
If the design is more complex and very time consuming then the end result must be worth its cost. In many ways we might be paying the price now for something that will come in the future.
Evolution in many cases has evolved through countless trials and failures in the realm of science. There are leading edge designers of cables that have been at this for 40 plus years and without them
our quality of cables would be much less today without their discoveries. Maybe they are getting close to the perfect cable?
