It's good news to hear that Apple is finally offering CD quality music and yet, the contrarian voices are already making their familiar noises:

Sound familiar?

All the best,

I would like to see Roon Labs make arrangements to included the lossless streams from Amazon, Apple and Spotify in Roon. Roon Labs please make that happen! Thanks.
Any service that incorporates the technology to deliver a better product is great news. Now if we could only get the internet providers to up their game to keep up. In the US we are still 5 years behind the rest of the world on delivery. That is the way the US works. Offer consumers an outdated product, market the product as the latest and greatest, then grossly overcharge for it, so they can pay their government extortion bills. Welcome to the USA!
Issue is not Roon, it is Apple, Amazon, Spotify, etc. They don't have an open API that allows Roon to work.  Spotify has Spotify connect, Amazon has selectively worked with a few large partners, no idea about Apple.

Who has Amazon partnered with? One of (if not the primary) reasons I will not use the service is there is nothing out there that is capable (other than one of the Amazon "toys") to run their music remotely. Given the consumer bias Amazon promotes, I dont think we'll see the like of Lumin, et.al. with an app to control the service etc.
Lossless is not possible. Close if masters were digital, but analog masters, NO way. Just my opinion...
Is their audience those that listen in their Apple device with Apple earbuds?
until we can stream it natively on all the popular streamers, it’s just a misuse of bandwidth.
Amazon licensed it to Paradigm or whatever they are calling themselves these days (NAD, Paradigm, Bluesound, etc.)   Otherwise you need to hang a DAC off a laptop/PC.

Huh? It is trivially easy to make a bit perfect copy of any digital file, and that's the definition of "lossless."

As for making a digital copy of an analog master: I encourage you to experiment for yourself sometime. Many have been surprised by the results.
If you think it's possible to make a bit perfect copy trivially, I'm happy for you. If you take a look at all of the raw data of both D to D files, some bits are corrupt. I have experimented with A to D, not to say it's bad at all, very good, just not lossless.

If you’re unable to easily make bit perfect copies of digital files, then something is seriously wrong with your computer and/or other equipment. Maybe we can help if you tell us what hardware and software is giving you trouble.

The trouble you’re having with digital may also be part of the issues you’re having with A/D.

It is possible to make a digital file of an analog recording that will be identical to the original in an A-B test. Period.
cleeds - Thanks for your offer to help, I will contact you off of this thread. I haven't been able to achieve a perfect duplicate.

https://www.amazon.com/music/unlimited/why-hd
Follow the link and scroll down the webpage to "HD & UltraHD Preferred Brands". It lists 30 partners. Search for streamer products from those brands.

Apple Music has added a lossless streaming service that offers uncompromising sound quality at no extra cost. Apple's lossless audio will be included in the basic Apple Music subscription tier. Also, I have recently been using a tool called AudFree Apple Music Downloader to get lossless Apple audio songs for free.

Please, oh PLEASE don't give more money to Apple or Amazon.
