Chadnliz, i could have been clearer in my previous post. physical violence was not what i was thinking, but can see how that could be read between the lines. please allow me to clarify.
so a-gon threads become real world meetings, in person, to discuss audio. picture a huge room with many tables. each table is a thread that you sit down and participate in. one table is for an RIP to ms winehouse. i contend that most of her detractors in this thread wouldn't even sit down at that table, let alone inject negative comments. this is what i was referring to regarding being brave. not that anyone would beat your ass if you did....but would you sit at that table and express your "opinion". could be wrong but i think not. why??....because it's classless and disrespectful. most would feel very uncomfortable doing so and simply walk by to the next table. doing so online is much easier. there is no discomfort hiding behind your monitor. it becomes very easy to let it rip and say things you'd "never have the balls to say in person". this is what i meant by being "brave" online.
you don't have to like ms winehouse or her music. you don't have to condone her lifestyle or have sympathy, empathy or any other "thy". again, it's about civility and a tiny shred of respect for fellow human beings. that's all most of us are looking for.
bottom line for me is why come sit at this "table" and inject such comments?. did the OP (person who set up the table) ask for differing thoughts and opinions about ms winehouse's death?. judgmental arrogance and force feeding of opinions seems to have become acceptable in out society. tolerance/respect/civility have become bad words. it's the sign of our times and i hate it.
cheers |
If all you cats were at the table picking flowers and canting RIP Amy I think I would be interested in having/adding a few words of truth to the Matter.
Of course I would be looked at as the next Norway killed, hater of humanity and a bible thumper at the end. A few might even listen long enough to hear the Love in the words of hope and restoration before One dies and plants the wrong seed. A bad microphonic tube in the amp needs to be replaced? Is that what you are saying? I was born with a bad tube?
Hell with you for you are a religious nut case would sound out and I would leave the table so you all could continue to chant RIP. |
of course you would Glory...that's what religious zealots do. shouldn't you be heading off to your cult meeting....i mean church?. |
This thread is surprising in the amount of vitriol it has brought out in the various posters. Amy Winehouse by the way was not "mid=level" talent. To say that is to not have heard any of her best performances, or to not know quality soul, rhythm and blues singing. When she was at her best, she was exceptional in soul, r&b. If you can set aside your personal feelings about her private life and look at some of her "quality" live performances on youtube, you'll hear her talent. I have a feeling many people don't know and don't want to know, because of her terrible and deserved reputation. |
Religious I am not as it is very destructive.
Do not go to church.
The teachings of Christ is not cultish.
03 you have a bad tube LOL. |
I would sit at that table! Because there is a deep issue that is music related and we are here for music. What makes a star? Where do you draw the line with respect to those who dont even respect themselves? There would be other questions posed aswell as my thoughts already stated here. It would be a worthwhile debate so you bet your ass I would sit at that table. I am no shrinking violet online or in person and love a good debate/arguement and to be honest I have been to enough stereo shows to know there are not very many physical threats lol. |
no church for glory?? being religious is "destructive"?? if this is truly how you feel....then you're right. i must have a bad tube somewhere ;-). will look into a repair if possible.
Chadnliz.....i don't have a dog in the "is she a star" fight. don't have one in the "was she any good" fight as well. regarding respect...you are misunderstanding the point. she's dead and doesn't really need any. it's the people who enjoyed, cared and liked/loved her that deserve some respect (i don't fall into any of these categories as well). they sure as hell don't need someone trying to talk them out of it so soon after her demise *and* in an RIP thread. just like those people who crash/protest dead soldier funerals. they have a right to voice their thoughts even though many find them disgusting (myself included). it's the where and when that gets most of us riled up. timing is everything. |
Well shes gone and soon forgotten, just like this thread. |
I had formed opinions on some of the folks on this site, and find that they change as fast as these threads change. Too much anger and one-up-manship. I never cared for AW, but I respect the dead, junkie or not. |
And the tribute to Amy Winehouse goes on.
Tough crowd. |
Tough Crowd indeed.
To all those that think Amy was of little talent, or talentless, please view the attached clip of one Mr Tony Bennett, I am guessing and there is a strong suspicion that he may know a good singer when he performs with one, or is he talentless too?

+infinity Abuck!
I like this forum as it's a change of pace from the other bickering forums I am a member of. At one time this type of activity was here but limited. I don't understand why you people are "beating a dead horse", no disrespect to AW intended. Make your point and move on. Do some of you actually think you are going to change another's opinion about something by going on & on & on? |
I know very little about the lady other than her reputation.
However talented or not, stories like these are always sad and not something to take any pleasure in. Maybe something to learn from at best? |
Muncy we could say the same about your side, do you really think your going to change our minds? This whole thread is a dead horse. |
Thanks Gawd. Although beauty is in the (ear) of the beholder, it should be acknowledged that inside the music industry, her talent was greatly respected. Even if no minds are changed and the horse is still dead. |
A whole life wasted. Very sad. |
What a sad ending, she had nice albums. Both were great. |
"A whole life wasted. Very sad. "
I'm sure others will profit from the increased fame that often comes with early death. The sad thing is that she herself no longer can, I suppose.
Also I suppose if she is remembered fondly by others over time for whatever reason, I suppose the time she had was not wasted. |
Glory is bringing the message of hope to everyone participating in this thread . It's the only message of hope . He seems to have no axe to grind . He's saying we (including Amy ) have sinned since we are all born with the corruptible seed of Adam . The end result of sin is death and hell . This is clear in God's book , the Bible . Yet Christ Jesus , the Messiah for both Jews and Gentiles has solved the dilemma . He is God who came here as man to take our sin to the cross . He became our substitute so that we don't have to pay the penalty for sin . Because of who He is and what He has done , all we have to do is receive Him , as a free gift , into our heart asking Him to forgive us for our sin and invite Him to take leadership of our lives . We are created to have personal relationship with God and this is the way He ordained it to happen . Those who are mocking do not change the truth of God's word which is unchanging and everlasting . Today Jesus is savior , later on He'll be judge . My savior , my judge . Your savior , your judge . |
"we are all born with the corruptible seed of Adam"
So that explains it!
I actually do feel a little less guilty now. |
MaP,
Born with a defective part. Never asked for it and am not responsible for Adam's screw up. How in HELL can a loving God have a place where He will not be found and where His image and likeness does not dwell and people end up there. I would take God to court and prosecute Him and win going away on grounds of injustice.
With that He has found a way on dealing with the broken down part we were all born with a that being a seed that rejects and can not perceive Him.
Christ the Son comes with a new seed that when sowed in death reaps after it's own kind and brings forth resurrection from the dead. Now the message is what I call seed exchange. The old corrupted seed for His incorruptible seed. Now I would lose in court as the defense will bring out Christ the redemmer as the answer to the sin/ sickness/ death issue.
Rejecting God's Son leaves one defeated in court and every one of us will end up In His court room just as Amy has just entered in her passing.
Deep $hit I know but dam at least be open to revelation on the Kingdom of God. Chad is an example that while he may not agree or see what I am saying he seems open to deep chats about.... Subject and not stereotypeing me. Meeting me would not cause one to throw me in a religious circle. |
Something seems wrong. I had thought this was an audio site. |
No Everest, haven't you heard? It's now a theology site. Welcome sinner.... |
E Audio,
Just making sure all you audio nuts make it back to a cleaned up perfected planet to listen to live music forever in your new glorified bodies. To deep? Maybe the amp threads would better suit you. X rated over here. =8^D |
Sounds kind of like I Ching?
Makes sense to me. |
We are talking about a "artist" who made albums that we bought and listened to on our AUDIO systems. Didnt seem too cryptic to me. What are you more a "favorite bike", "best scotch", or "what time do you wear" kinda guy? Cause all are threads on Audiogon and dare I point out this is a hell of alot closer to the point than any of those. |
****Attention members**** To Tubegroover and anyone else who wants to invade my private email with insults and teary eyed statements of compasion to the departed keep it in open forum, your private comments are unwelcome and kinda creepy. Cheers |
Why don't you just post what I sent you Chad rather than leave it to open speculation. If it is "kinda creepy" do get an e-mail from a member, I suggest you make it unavailable. You are indeed pathetic. |
For the theologians here, just a friendly suggestion: "Myths to Live By" by Joseph Campbell fascinating stuff |
ps- for anyone from atheist to fundamentalist |
To paraphrase Amy,
They say 'Agon the Glory Hole, No! No! No! |
Blk,
Is this book about how much sand to throw in the sand box?
Little guy with the book? Would love to met you someday and have a real chat with you about whatever. I am sure you are deep enough to hold conversation without throwing sand at me with name calling. |
So here is what I have learned from this thread. If your gonna post do make sure your opinion is in lockstep with the wolfpack, it cant be contrary, cant show a point of view that perhaps equals that of millions of others around the world no matter how reasoned it is. You simply cant disagree with those who must be agreed with, you will be attacked, mocked, called names and judged in open forum but also in private where surely providing email contact info was not for private rants and insults. These folks who need that gentle hug of agreement quickly forget their self serving good guy path if you stray from their message and pounce on you with same alleged hate they claim came from your own words and opinions. Careful, the wolf waits! |
Realize that nothing pisses people off more in general than stating something undeniable that conflicts with their core beliefs.
Its human nature. So we all might as well accept it and deal with it.
But does it really? Or does it just sound like it does?
Joseph Campbell. Smart guy! |
Glory, qoutes:.... "perils before swine". "PERILS"?? Matthew 7:6. |
