Im thinking about adding an amplifier block under my Krell FPB 600. Right now it sits on top of my hardwood floor. Does anyone recommend them and what kind , where to find them.
Get a real stand look at Symposium Ultra it will improve your sound very much.Or get Blocks whatever that is which will give little sound improvement.Good luck!!
Procure some thick maple butcher block and some brass cones. Spike wood to floor and sit amp on cones. It will improve focus and sweeten the sound and even if the effect is minimal, it will look good.
Everything you do will make the sound different. I use Audio Points, but have used Cardas Blocks, et al. Try the little cans of tomato paste in their side...point them in different directions to prevent the amp from rolling around....(this is serious...you might like the sound of the cans the best....brings out the spaciousness and air around the instruments)
HRS if you want a math and science based approach they are built into the monoblocks I am using but the platforms work well also the maple is very cost effective, i made two for my vintage tube anps with Vandersteen speaker spikes (3) on each and they did wonders for my vintage biamped setup, especially with the tube amp
Try it all....what do you have to loose? Put it under preamps, CD players, et al. It really works B&M baked beans works as well....you very well might like that sound better.
I found an old Stand Design rack, and replaced the shelving with these guys. What they produced exceeded my expectations in both look and functionality. They are reasonably priced.
I find that Finite Elemente(Cerabase Classic) make the best footers. They come up on Agon from time to time at 50% off list.

You didn't say, but full depth, sanded-in-place, tongue-in-groove, hardwood floors are typically supported on wooden floor joists over a basement or crawl space. Wood flooring over a wood joist support system is very different from flooring over a concrete slab-on-grade. The wood joists will be more susceptible to vibrations than a floor supported over a slab-on-grade.
If your system is supported over wood joists, then an amplifier stand or support platform could be more effective than which blocks, or footers, you have directly under your amp. A platform may help spread the amplifier support over a larger area so that the support is derived directly from multiple joists while the four feet alone may be positioned on the flooring between joists. I suspect decoupling using compliant footers or springs may be more beneficial than coupling with spikes, for situations over a joist-supported wood floor. You may want to look into what has worked well for people with large speakers over joist-supported floors.
