2, Which speakers to exhibit in audio show?

I am exhibiting my speakers at the audio show next week (The home entertainment show 2022, Long Beach). I made 2 different sounding speakers. Please choose which speakers are better for the audio show from below 2 videos.

For what it’s worth, through my iPhone the second one has a more natural horn on April in Paris. What’s all the hiss noise?

If I listen to the original music, I hear the similar hiss noises. My audio system faithfully reproduces the original sound and you are hearing everything in it. The hiss noise is amplified as the music is amplified in the audio system. In other audio systems, these hiss noises (and real music) are masked/veiled by distortion and hardness of audio sound.

My audio system has a very quiet background and there are much more distance between sound images which are in real life size (small). I've removed distortions/veils of my audio system and as a result, the sound is warm, clean, and forward.

Thank you for your comment and best regards,

Alex

Over my phone I enjoyed #1 it seemed to present the vocals and piano better. I could really hear the piano overtone.

Im

with rwbadley,

the hissing is constant and kinda ruins it.

If I had to choose I would say the 2nd video although it’s music that likely has never played in my home.

2nd video kind of, but both have problems (more).

Difficult to judge "on a whole" from a Youtube source with your videos as I've never listened to your speakers in person.

However, with speakers/drivers I'm familiar with (and with well, IMO, recorded videos) I am more able to judge such (on a whole - which is not what I understand you are asking about).

I have been using vintage wide band single drivers for the past 20 years, so have a bit of a grip on what you have been working at.

I once considered purchasing a pair of SMGA's that you advertised locally (I'm in West Hollywood).

I didn't go for the SMGA's (owned a pair before) because we had recently acquired a ferocious feral male cat, otherwise I would have contacted you.

A few weeks later we acquired a ferocious feral female Orange cat, so I'm doubly grateful that I did not respond to your ad.

Anyway, good luck with the show.

Whichever speaker you choose, don’t use that track to demo them. Something is terribly wrong there. If you can hear that hiss while in your listening room,  either that recording is sub par, or you have system issues. Surely you don’t hear that with all playback?

#1 sounds can be bit lean but with right materials, #1 speakers are very nice.

Thank you for the detailed comment!

Same music was played at the show 2021. Many guests told me my room sounded the best at the show. And I agreed.

I am not hearing any hiss noise actually. I may be used to the sound. Anyway, I am enjoying them every day.

I am curious. Which one has more noise from below?

I am curious that how every ears are different.

I think it is OK to compare to ones claim to be the world's greatest.

Alex

listening through ear buds, #1 was way more open, separate, and natural. #2 was smooth but blocked the open sound, less separation, etc.

Should have used my tube equipment to solve all of your problem!

Happy Listening.

I remember your room at last year’s show.  I really enjoyed the sound and loved the look of your speakers.  I look forward to hearing your setup this weekend.

Please talk more about your tube equipment. I am willing and eager to improve the sound of my set up. My best wish is to present the beautiful and nice sound to all music loving and looking for great sound show guests.
