Tin Pan Alley and Thanks to You- which speakers play the tap on the snares the best? Wow that Epikore 11 is 75k$?! It better sing and dance for that kind of money
Reinforcing delicate 1941 speaker cones. I would only like to point out that anything you do to the cone will most likely degrade the value of the driver.
Tin Pan Alley and Thanks to You- which speakers play the tap on the snares the best? There’s so much more within this track I’m not sure to focus on that one aspect of the snare is a best case. it would eventually become a one note without the complexity of the whole, I think The dynamics here are huge, getting that alone is w...

I found my new reference album Thanks for the tip on this artist. I’ve been streaming The Returner but think I may invest in her CD. Good stuff, fun music and Linda likes it (bonus as she’s not always into my usual playlist)
Perlisten D212 Subs (2) in the house. I also have the Perlisten D12s. It has evolved into a very nice sub. Initially it needed lots of break in as I couldn’t get enough gain out of it. But now is performing well. That driver when new is really tight and seemed quite closed in. It wou...
What was your first record? I remember playing a 45rpm of Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford. Over and over... I think my folks were initially relieved when my paper route allowed me to then invest in a 45 of The Rolling Stones HonkyTonk Woman, and Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy ...
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better? OP so how did your comparison of the tube monos vs SS go?! Any thoughts?
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better? I have a feeling a pair of 300 watt tube amps are going to show you some downsides pretty quickly. Better get a tube tester for a start. And have a good AC system- even in the winter 😎
New MOFI speaker (Andrew Jones) Prof- Thanks for the well considered review of the SP10. I am impressed it seemed they did well even in comparison with the 22k B&W 803 D4. I would guess with sorting out the synergy and room interactions the SP 10 really could show good valu...
McIntosh C2700 or Luxman L38uC Not a good idea to install the wrong tube. Stick with the 12au7
Luxman 595ASE I’ve had mine for a while it has maybe 100 hrs so far. It replaced an L590 that was here for about three years. I really enjoyed the 590, and it’s looks were elegant. Loved the dancing meters. The L595 takes the sound of the 590 a step or two ...
Low buzzing through speaks I just went around with this same problem. At full volume with no source playing I was getting 48.5 dB hum and hiss from each speaker. Loud. I finally traced it down to the subwoofer rca cables. I put in a different and better made cable and my...
Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum I just wish I could get my cd/sacd front end to sound as good as the SOTA ATart9xi does right now
Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum The new AT art9 solved issues with the tonearm placement , so that was a good thing. The MDC-800 arm I quite like. Simple, straightforward to adjust and stays there without fiddling. Seems to work well. I have considered trying a Technics 1200g ... |
