Has anybody listened to the Klipsch Cornwall IV speakers?
I've heard them and they sound great. They certainly have plenty of competition for 6K, but Klipsch Heritage stuff beats most hands down for efficiency. I have a pair of Heresy IIIs that look positively tiny relative to the Cornwalls, but still ha...
New Santana Album "Africa Speaks"
African mumbo jumbo...really? I suggest people attend an Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra show (Birdland) and see what "snowflakes" are into, as the punch and rhythm of Latin music is all Africa...I bet Neil Diamond knows that...
Your memory of Audio Marketing, esp. B.S.
Anything like "Expensive fuses sound fabulous." More recent history, but BS nonetheless.
Audiophile Bass?
I've done small-ish venue (200 to 500 captive suckers!) sound design/production/mixing for decades and the key to bass is balance...1000 watt 18" subs can be mixed in there with great results exactly like what I do in my home system if you simply ...
Usless but interesting ....how many of you old timers started with original Large Advents?
In maybe 1970 or something I bought a KLH Model 20 compact system that sounded better than pretty much anything anybody else I knew owned, other than AR3s and Advents that sounded similar. All great speakers in their day.
Amplifiers weight
My single ended Dennis Had Firebottle amp puts out 12 to 17wpc and weighs a massive 15lbs. Sure, it seems like I should reinforce the floor for the thing, but somehow I get by fine...15lbs...if it was dropped on your head from 10 stories above I'd...
Morrow Audio re-design announcement: No more Ag coated Cu; Increased numbers of runs.
My main concern regarding "60% off" is that the cables will be too short.
Night and day speaker connection
I talked to designer and head honcho (he's a honcho!) Alan Yun at Silverline Audio when I bought my Preludes years ago...he said that although they have bi-wire capability, they sound more coherent single wired...I tried both and found that he was...
Guest suddenly takes it upon herself to move my speakers
I "label" strong women in my life as exactly that, raised by a single mom, surrounded by brilliant women my entire life, and willing to walk the walk when somebody says, "I would have knocked her out" even if followed by a creep's pathetic  backpe...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Again, fuses do not provide, and simply are not designed to provide any sonic effect (except that imagined by imaginations) other that shutting down the proceeds by melting. It's simply a tiny wire whose "directionality" is utterly rendered irrele...
Guest suddenly takes it upon herself to move my speakers
Another opportunity for a plethora of rampant sexism...man...I assume "pops" meant he'd knock her out with a Cosby drug as clearly he displays the insecurity of a true coward. Speak to any of the strong women in my life with the weird disdain and ...
Seriously considering tube preamp…opinions?
I run my Freya (original version) into a Dennis Had Inspire "Firebottle" high output (ha...12 to maybe 17wpc depending on tubes) tube masterpiece...a seriously great sounding amp, and then succumbed to the hype regarding the Schiit Aegir and bough...
Smoke on my power amp
I've become unstable simply from reading this thread and there are some signs of smoke although maybe it's steam...I'll unplug.
Total cost of ownership - how to reduce it
So a Dennis Had amp, hand wired and out the door with custom transformers and tested using the ears of a brilliant designer costs less than a mid priced power cable. That's how you address costs.
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Kaitty simply has no actual idea how many Magic Fuses have been sold and bristles when called out on that because he knows he's clueless. Regarding my "question," nobody clearly addresses "internal wire direction chaos" as it simply renders Fusers...
