So What Is Real? I'm an actual "professional listener" as I'm seriously overpaid to mix live concerts (snakes...live 100 plus foot snakes), and note that my opinions about wire are Real Important...I say buy whatever sounds best to you. I use AQ speaker cable and ...
Fyne Speakers now in the USA I think any certifiable audio geek would OF COURSE drive from NH to Florida without hesitation to audition a speaker...what is this world coming to? Man up!
Stereophile, Pass Integrated and personal taste Recent interviews with Uncle Nelson indicate that he certainly is currently on top of the designer heap in just about every way, and has explained (and shared things including giving away his "distortion generator" at Burning Amp) at length his ev...
Forte' Audio model 3 power supply schematic Contact John Soderberg at "Vintage Amp Repair" assuming it still exists. He's the to go-to Threshold/Forte dude.
If Caveman Had Stereo The cave would likely need room treatment, but Mammoth fur wall treatment could cover the wall paintings so that would need to be carefully applied. Also the resale value of the gear would be diminished by exposure to cave smoke.
What creates the effortlessness in sound reproduction? I think a system's perceived effortlessness can be achieved by a judicious application of effort.
Need under $1500 preamp for my system I schlepped my Freya to a friend's house to compare it to an ARC Reference 5 preamp, and we both though the Freya in its tube mode sounded every bit as good. I use NOS GEs in the thing (tried many others leading to a clogged tube drawer), and alth...
Why is loudness compensation missing from "mid-fi"? Low level listening is always subject to the Fletcher-Munson contours, and that's certainly NOT remedied by bypassing tone controls. It's not a synergy issue at all...it's a perceived tonal issue relative to low level sound. Note I rarely use my L...
Need under $1500 preamp for my system I need the 12db (or whatever it is) gain from my Freya to get my SEP power amp off the ground (it could be that Dennis Had designed my little tube amp for higher gain preamps...like the ones he makes)...it does work with the other lower gain setti...
Subwoofer matching REL customer service recently told me they won't repair either of my subs should they ever need it. Hmmm...also, "speed" is a silly term and I don't think it's applicable to subs or really anything else in audio. I think some bass overhang in reve...
Klipsch Heresy IV You really do have to have the front end sorted out to make the Heresy IIIs really sing as they're very revealing of anything put into 'em...they're great tube tone and wire quality (or characteristic) indicators...I imagine the IVs have the same ...
Love it when it snows On exactly what records has Bob Dylan said that?
What creates the effortlessness in sound reproduction? Class A amps are certainly "snappy." Mine (Dennis Had Inspire Firebottle HO SEP) is anyway...a short path to the mojo transferring a clear upstream signal to earball pleasing immediacy.
Upgrade phenomenon Tube gear makes you a better person even if you haven't installed it yet...your skin clears up, people pay closer attention to what you say, and you get slightly taller. Once the gear is installed, most of the above levels off.
How much will you pay for an exotic cartridge.... Around 350 bucks. The price of the Ortofon Quintet Red MC I recently stuck on a Linn Akito arm...utterly worth it. |
