I've decided to try Tubes Rogue Sphinx integrated is exactly in your price range (1299.00 without remote). It's a hybrid (tube pre-/SS amp) that puts out 100 WPC into your 8 ohm speakers. The only question is whether the hybrid sound is "tubey" enough for you at this stage.
Old Amp vs. New Amp Since the OP has an NAD BEE amp I will say this--I used an NAD BEE integrated amp for years and then switched to a tube pre-amp/class D power amp integrated (made by Rogue). To my ear it's definitely an upgrade from the NAD solid-state integrated...
Best divorce album? Not to sound snarky, but no, it's not my number one it's yours.
Have you ever tried a pair of speakers and said this Is the last thing I will ever need. I'm happy with mine but if I came into some big bucks I'd consider others. I'm sure designers have come up with some good ideas in the 20-25 years since mine were first produced.
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? I've had many immensely satisfying experiences listening to each format. They are different flavors and neither is perfect, but either can provide those great moments when it all comes together the way it should. Then again, I can sometimes "get...
Do you admit that you ever enjoyed listening to: I wore out my Bee Gees First LP. And I had (the first?) Seals and Crofts album, which I listened to some. I never had Bread or Fogelberg but I did admire Gates' craftsmanship. The only thing I'd be curious to hear again of all that is the early...
I'll Take "Songs About People" for $200 Brian Wilson did not write Barbara Ann about Agent 99. He didn't write it all--it was a guy named Fred Fassert (never heard of him, I had to look it up).
Best divorce album? Phases and Stages, Willie Nelson--tells it from both sides, as does the aforementioned Shoot out the Lights (equally great)
Comparing these CD players with my gear... For that budget, check out NAD. A lot of bang for the buck.
Stand mount speakers for a very large room !! I've had Dynaudio monitors (Countour 1.3 MkII) on stands for 15 years and I think they're great. With a good subwoofer, even better.
Think twice before concluding some thing sounds better There is a fine line between fascination and obsession.
Pat Metheny Fans, Great Suggestions Please ?? I like the CD with Jim Hall. Some of the tracks are live. I consider it hit-and-miss, but it's always interesting with two talents of that caliber.
The Elbphilharmonie - What happens when algorithms design a concert hall interesting, indeed--thanks for posting.
To much bass, really If you don't mind, trip, we're curious to know how you got it straightened out. Thanks.
Same song different artist. Which ones do you love? LP The first song mentioned by the OP, "Baby Blue," is actually two different songs with the same title. The Badfinger song is the not Dylan song. FWIW I love the 13th Floor Elevators' cover of the Dylan tune on their "Easter Everywhere" LP. |
