R.I.P Glen Campbell The Beach Boys connection alone would be enough to earn my respect, but then I saw him perform live in '68 and I was very impressed. Also, he gave John Hartford a hit record that allowed John to have a successful career so there's that feather in...
Would "Sgt. Pepper's" be a better album if..... And, the OP begs the question: Would Revolver be a better album with Rain and Paperback Writer instead of I Want to Tell You, Dr. Robert or Love You To?These guys knew what they were doing. They dropped songs or re-did them from scratch when the...
Would "Sgt. Pepper's" be a better album if..... saintintn, I think MMT is far stronger than Beatles For Sale, which is such a disappointment coming after the very strong A Hard Day's Night album. I do agree with George Martin that "the White Album" should have been a single disc and not two. ...
Would "Sgt. Pepper's" be a better album if..... Different Agoners would keep or cut different tunes. There's no absolute answer, no consensus, on this. If you put SFF and PL on this LP then what happens to the Magical Mystery Tour LP (without those two very strong tracks)? When I'm 64 is a f...
Would "Sgt. Pepper's" be a better album if..... I don't listen to much psychedelic music anymore but I think there are some great examples of psychedelic songs that still sound good today. It's probably true that the lesser examples of the genre are more embarrassing than those of some other s...

Mcintosh I agree with Rhodes on that. They had dozens of them. I think Phil Lesh had a separate output for each string on his bass, and each output had a dedicated MC2300. A fine amp, but, at at around 125 lbs., a bit on the heavy side.
My rankings of some classical violin music in high resolution Are there any hi-rez recordings of Giuliano Carmignola? He's worth checking out.
And a happy 4th to you all! Stephen Foster, if you must know. More recognizable and beloved songs than those other guys put together.
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy? The thing about the Dead is that they were an experimental band live, so it's going to be hit and miss from song to song and from night to night. Experiments sometimes blow up in your face, but when all goes right it's worth the risk. As for the...
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy? I think it's fair to say Jerry's strengths and weaknesses are at extreme ends of the chart. He has thrilled me and also bored/disappointed me at different times. I do think he was "leaving it on the playing field" whenever he played so I don't t...
CD players = dead? geoffkait, do you mean that new music on CD is more compressed than before or that new releases of old music (say, 60's, 70's, 80's) is more compressed than previous CD releases?
The new re-mix of Sgt. Pepper's I listened with headphones today and it was definitely more dramatic. A few "wow" moments. I guess I need new speakers.
The new re-mix of Sgt. Pepper's I just listened to the new mix for the first time and I think it's a winner. Fresher, more natural, more spacious, more musical. I don't agree with every choice he made but overall (at this moment) I think it's an improvement. It's (mostly) the... |
