Chord Qutest vs. Benchmark 2 or 3?
It's funny, whenever I read comments about a DAC sounding "warmer" the comments seems to align with DACs that measured higher in distortion.  Some distortion as we know tends to be more pleasing to our ears than others. The Benchmark is probably m...
Chord Qutest vs. Benchmark 2 or 3?
FWIW the Benchmark measures a bit better and has XLR outputs.  Pretty significant aesthetics depending on your taste.  I can't believe you'd be disappointed in either.
The midi range, not the tweeter, is the most important driver in a speaker.
This reminds me of Seinfeld - "The top button makes or breaks the shirt".
Acoustic panels on ceiling
Directly above the listening zone.  Ideally this would be a first reflection point and would help towards overall creation of a reflection free zone when used with absorption/diffusion in front, sides, and back as well.
Cary Audio SLI-80HS vs Primaluna Dialogue HP or Evo Integrated Amps
@decooney  I might lean more towards the sound and silky tone of the GLKT88 tubes you have  right now :)That was actually how I'm leaning right now.  I don't feel like the system is lacking in any dynamics at all.
Isotek Sigmas or PS Audio P15
@flip49er  I too have a Pass 30.8.  I use the Isotek EVO3 Syncro Uni Sine Wave Rebalancing Unit in front of my AQ Niagara 1200 and really like the results through the high current plugs.  I have only compared this to going straight into the wall r...
turntable hum
Rega’s ground wire is routed through the tonearm which is why we see so many threads about Rega and hum. It’s poor design. The table tries to ground to itself. Doh! Let me guess, your hum also gets louder as the tonearm gets closer to the motor/sp...
"Hi-FI" book
Sorry, next time I will just send you an Amazon gift card.  I tried.  Maybe you can re-gift it.
Cary Audio SLI-80HS vs Primaluna Dialogue HP or Evo Integrated Amps
@decooney I've actually only tried KT88s in the SLI-80 and SLI-80HS.  I've tried these in EH and GLs and much preferred the GLs.  I recently inquired with Cary about bias settings should I start to experiment with other output tubes and interestin...
OMG... Joe Henry
His gorgeous new album "The Gospel According to Water".  Stunning and moving.  +1 for Joe!
Looking for a small tube amp (possibly integrated tube amp)... low power, nice sound
@bdp24  +1 on the Music Reference.  That one looks very tempting to me!
Does the 'Buck' Start with the DAC?
@david_ten I have not heard about a GX Series roll out but I dont follow as closely as some.  You may find a lot of info through this link:https://community.auralic.com/
Does the 'Buck' Start with the DAC?
@david_ten It's pretty well documented on the Auralic community board, and by statements made by the designer - Xuanqian, that the Aries G1/G2 provide improved SQ when paired with the Vega G1/G2 compared to using the very basic built-in streaming ...
Does the 'Buck' Start with the DAC?
@david_ten I really don't have much experience in the over $5K world of DACs but from all I've read the law of diminishing returns applies pretty squarely to them.  I run an Auralic Vega G1 that I'm happy with and I know first hand that running an...
Does the 'Buck' Start with the DAC?
A $500 streamer connected to a $2500 DAC will always sound better than a $500 DAC connected to a $2500 streamer.  At least that's my experience and it's not even close.
