Bel Canto dac 3.5VB vs 47 lab progression gemini
Hindu???
Belles 350a or Mccormack DNA -1 Deluxe?
If going McCormack I'd highly recommend holding out for one that already has one of Steve's A or gold revisions. When buying used the premium is not that much and you get a much superior amp. Best of luck.
New Bookshelf speakers u love 3k to 6k
Like the Ref. 3As too, but I'd go for a lightly used pair of Joseph Audio Pulsars.
Universal player or DAC?
You might consider buying an Oppo and having someone like Ric Schultz at Electonic Visionary Systems modify it for even better sound and video. Lots of positive comments. Best of luck.
Aerial 7T vs. Marten Django L
If you can go used at your price level I'd wait for a pair of Acoutic Zen Crescendos to come up for sale. Best of luck.
Small 2 or 3 Way Floor Stander for under $3500.
I've not heard your speakers, but I've always found Usher speakers to be pretty clear and transparent in the mids and highs. What cables and interconnects are you using? That said, a couple speakers in this price range I think highly of are Joseph ...
A/V reciever advice
Yamaha has been getting good reviews. They seem to have better than average sound quality, good reliability, and decent ease of use. If they have the features you need I'd go that way, and if you upgrade your center or other speakers at some point...
What speakers for 10k?
Just wondering if there is a free trial period with Vapor speakers? If not what's the resale situation with them. Not sure what the risk is if you don't end up liking them or they're just not to your personal taste.
Best dac used for 2k$
Bel Canto DAC3 VBS is really outstanding if you can find one used. I've heard the Berkeley Alpha DAC works well directly into an amp. Best of luck.
What speakers for 10k?
There's a nice pair of Acoustic Zen Crescendos for sale here for $7500. I have no idea if these speakers meet your personal tastes, but that's a lot of quality full-range speaker for the $$$. And you'd still have $2500 left for a vacation. Sorry, ...
Sjofen The Clue speakers
Fair points Onhwy61. I have no idea why some manufacturers get to optimally set up their speakers for review and others don't. My guess is that if the manufacturer offers to do it S'phile would probably let them do so, but that's just a guess. Fro...
Sjofen The Clue speakers
Oh, and just to clarify, Onhwy61 you've never actually heard these speakers right??? Maybe rather than blindly weighing in on procedural issues on a review of speakers you've never heard you could go and actually listen to them and then give us so...
Sjofen The Clue speakers
"I wish Stereophile and other magazines would decline direct manufacturer setup assistance during the review process. The exception would be when that setup assistance is performed for every purchaser. I realize this is wishful think on my part."I...
Sjofen The Clue speakers
So, once again the reviewer set the speakers up according to the basic quick setup instructions. And nothing further. There are frequently situations, especially with even more conventional speakers, where even minor placement adjustments can make...
Sjofen The Clue speakers
Hey Rebbi, I'll take your cynicism and raise it one. The flip side of what they do for major advertisers as you say is what they did to the clue. Financially Sjofn means nothing to them, so they can afford to throw them under the bus with virtuall...
