What's the solid state amp to buy $2500? Maybe a Class A solid state amp would get you what you're looking for without losing too much tonality or fluidity. There's a Plinius SA103 and Pass Labs XA100.5s for sale here that might be worth a look. Or maybe a McCormack DNA 500 or a hybrid l...
Need recommendations on phono amp upgrade There is an Allnic H3000 for sale here at a little above your price range that might be worth a look. Best of luck.
What's the solid state amp to buy $2500? How have your tastes shifted? What are you looking to change or improve upon?
Best speakers to buy for around $1,500 What are you looking to improve upon? What aspects of sound reproduction and speaker characteristics are most important to you? Without this info it's impossible to make a good recommendation.
ARC Ref 75 vs. Ref 75 SE Well, the flip side and potential benefit of the ARC upgrades to the folks particularly on this site is that you can probably buy the SE versions used and get a significant discount on both the unit and the improvements. Much like buying a McCorma...
Parasound A21 or Bryston 4BSST2? Sounds like you should consider some Class A solid state amps. Pass, Plinius, Clayton, etc. Best of luck.
Which desktop speakers to buy $800 So as others have mentioned, how many hours do you have on these? I have serious doubts it has anything to do with magnetically shielded shells. Really sounds like it could be a break-in issue, so give them at least a few hundred hours of play tim...
Hegel H80 vs H160 I'm sure you heard what you heard, but really there are too many significant variables here to draw any solid conclusions. Obviously the H160 was in a different room with at least some if not completely different associated equipment. IMO you shou...
Advice on buying a used speaker up to 3k If you don't mind buying used, Reference 3A Grand Veena or Veena are worth a look. If buying new the Silverline Prelude Plus is also a pretty easy load. I'd think both would offer more treble detail than your KEFs. Best of luck.
Parasound's new Halo integrated I have read before that VA speakers open up with more power, and taking a quick look at the specs of your speakers it looks like you're right in pursuing more power. At 86dB sensitivity and a drop to 2.3 Ohms at 90Hz (as per Stereophile) it's easy...
Salk HT3, SF Cremona M, Magnepan 3.7 or ML Ethos? Given the imaging and resolution you're looking for, in your price range used I'd try to listen to Joseph Audio Pulsars, Vandersteen Treos, and Reference 3A Grand Veenas. Best of luck.
Clayton Audio Class A amps. Need amp advice Congrats. To me, this was a textbook way to search for and buy speakers even though ironically it started out as a search for a new amp. Initially I was going to ask if you looked at another brand, but after reading what you've done here there's n...
bryston 28bsst2 / mag's 3.7 Some more info would be helpful. What preamp are you using now, and what aspects of sound reproduction are most important to you and what specifically are you looking to improve upon over what you have now? Until we know these things, as Zd allude...
Your thoughts about ATC loudspeakers I worked for an ATC dealer a while back, and we didn't carry the 40s but I got to hear the 20s and 50s quite a bit while I was there. To me, the midrange is about the best I've ever heard in terms of power, resolution, and an utter lack of any dis...
Receiver I did some research about a year ago, and Yamaha seemed to be a nice combination of good sound quality, reliability, and ease of use. Wasn't top notch in features (although not bad either), but if it has enough for your needs that's a non issue. O... |
