Bi-amp through receiver vs pre out to 2 channel for fronts
It really depends.  You'll likely get the best overall bang for your buck by buying an integrated since you're only buying one box and need one less pair of interconnects (and power cord if you upgrade those too).  Then again, if you can space out...
Speaker Help
Budget?  Given your stated preferences I have to ask what you didn't like about the Gershmans?  What are your source components?  The more info you give, the better responses you'll get here.
DACs with a budget of $800
It sounds to me like you're very much describing the sound (and limitations) of your preamp.  In his Soundstage review John Crossett found the 21.1 to be darker and more forward with less depth in direct comparison to an ARC SP16.  I don't see muc...
How to get good sound out of this for music only?
I'd think this system would sound at least pretty good in 2-channel.  I looked through the 1066 manual and it looks like the stereo setting should be a pure, unadulterated signal.  What's you're 2-channel source component and is it hooked up to an...
Bi-amp through receiver vs pre out to 2 channel for fronts
If you’d really like the best sound possible in 2-channel, your best bet is to completely remove your AVR from the signal chain when listening in stereo. Neither the Pioneer’s amp section nor, just as importantly, its preamp section are doing you ...
My next Coax / SPDIF after Green Hornet
@audioengr -- that's very interesting re: RCA connectors.  I hadn't heard that before.  Thanks.  I suppose I should adjust my prior Apogee recommendation...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6XL1XW/ref=twister_B01MUH69P1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Bi-amp through receiver vs pre out to 2 channel for fronts
Is 2-channel listening more important to you than multichannel or HT?
My next Coax / SPDIF after Green Hornet
Although I haven't heard their digital cables, I have several AZ interconnects and cables, and if their house sound translates to the MC2 I think you may well be on the right track.  I've been using an Apogee Wyde Eye for years and find it to occu...

What aspects of sound reproduction are most important to you?
Wilson Audio Sabrina . . . I'm smitten. Should I consider others?
"Measuring "perfectly flat" means absolutely nothing. Measuring evenly, relatively linear and smooth ON, and smooth fall-off OFF axis is critical for good performance (some prefer a slight gentle, smooth slop down, 2-3 dB on-axis from 20Hz to 20KH...
Wilson Audio Sabrina . . . I'm smitten. Should I consider others?
If a speaker measures perfectly flat, as my engineer (non-audiophile) uncle argues with me to this day, it is technically perfect and the best design, period.  I'd bet dollars to doughnuts if most of us heard a ruler flat measuring speaker in our ...
Dac Technology Mature?
Mature?  I'd say exactly the opposite.  Although it's always existed, the differences between the delta-sigma DACs and the R2R and NOS multi-bit processors seems to be in its relative infancy.  Heck, we're still reconciling the convergence of tube...
Suggestions for Modifying/Upgrading my system
My first impulse was to say your amp outclasses your speakers, especially with the music you tend to listen to, but if those speakers really do it for you then screw what I think.  I had the RLD (and have a DNA-0.5 RevA) in my system for a bit and...
Auralic Vega vs. Meitner MA-1 DAC
Lots of great DACs out there these days, new and used.  Why would you limit yourself to just these two?
Best DAC for over 2000
Lots of great recommendations here.  I'm sure they all sound fantastic, so at this level it really comes down to your personal preferences.  What properties of a DAC are most important to you and what aspects would you like to improve upon if poss...
