Bass issues,,,,will new speaker help? I know you said you have a projector, but I think if you try a seat at around 9' from the rear wall...the bass will improve a lot (the 38% rule).Dave
SubWoofer Help If your going to use the sub below 80hz only, I've found that it really does not matter. If you need to use the sub, from around 70hz...and on up, stay with front firing,.... if thats how your speakers fire, into the room.Dave

Apogee vs Soundlab JafoxApogee had well over 20 models...I've only owned three, and heard five. Right now I own Duetta Signatures, and a pair of MiniGrands. The Duetta was the largest 2-way. The bass panel must share some of the midrange reproduction, with the tweete...
Apogee vs Soundlab The Apogee Duetta, and Maggie 3.6's are not at the same level with the big Apogees and Soundlabs....they cost a lot less too.Dave

Apogee vs Soundlab Apogee and Sound Lab have (had) several different models, so it's not as clear cut, as in name only.More like: Which Apogee models, compete with which, Sound Lab models? The biggest, and best Apogees, are the Apogee Grand, Apogee Fullrange, Apogee ...
Have you noticed that... I think that once you have been in this hobby, for a number of years...you come to many conclusions, and are well past the mistakes, which drive all obsession. At that point, component changes are more about fun.... a change in direction...."becaus...
Anyone ever refoam Bose 901's? I got the new surrounds today...tried them for fit, and they fit perfect. This is going to be easy. One note: The front grill is stapled on with six staples...one in each corner, and one in the middle, at each side. It took me a while to figure it ...
Great systems in butt-ugly rooms Well, I went with what I could afford....a garage turned into a dedicated room (and I even had to do my own labor, at that). I will say...my Apogees sound very good in this room, and thats all I needed.Dave
non powered sub recommendation I use VMPS subs with my Apogee panels...I like them.Dave
Anyone ever refoam Bose 901's? Well, I started messing with the foam today...only took about 1/2 hour to strip one speaker...stuff comes right off.I bought a repair kit also...$56 shipped, for the life time cloth repair kit. I got good news on that, you do not need to pull the ...
Anyone ever refoam Bose 901's? Thanks guys, I've been doing a little reading. I found out that the series 3 or 4 EQ will work with these....nothing else. I'm not going to pay over $100 for one....I'll have to play the Craigslist, E-bay game, until I snag one.Dave
midrange forwardness I agree with Germanboxers and Unsound...and pretty much Mingles too. I didn't go with the amp switching idea, for only one reason....it's a major change, and could be very expensive.I do have tube amps, a tube preamp, and a tube DAC in my primary ...
Anyone ever refoam Bose 901's? Thanks guys...I looked at the instructions and it looks pretty easy....mostly time consuming (I'm retired though). My garage is 28'x 28'...I think they will be good for what I need out there. I have an old Sansui Au-717 integrated amp, and Sansui ... |
