Looking for the "better sub"
Robbob said:>> "JL Fathom 113....I would have ordered one, but no high level inputs turns a great sub into a home theater product in my eyes. They blew it." <<Really?....I don't understand how you have come to that conclusion about sub...
Help What Say You - Amp choices
The biggest difference, between tube amps that sound somewhat Solid state like (and, the Rogues are one of many that fit here) should be heard in mid-range reproduction quality. If you can't hear a difference "here" between the contenders, and all ...
Anyone know of good active crossovers?
Are the pictures of your system up to date? Looks like you have system setup problems to me. Is that the subwoofer over in the corner?...if so, thats not a good place for it at all. No crossover will blend that subwoofer, with those speakers...in ...
Help What Say You - Amp choices
I went from Krell to Rogue...there is nothing wrong with your ears. (I suggest the meds with the seeds)Dave
Help What Say You - Amp choices
Hummm, You went and listened for yourself...and you would still give credit, to something you read?...over your own ears? You will need those meds at some point.Dave
move to multi-channel audio-only
I had a high quality surround system, in a fairly large room, a few years back...Sony XA-777es, Krell amps, Apogee speakers, VMPS subwoofers. Sound was outstanding at times, except...I was an early adapter, and good surround disc's were far and fe...
Krell KAV-250a/3 or KAV-500?
Donnelly asked:"Other than power, do you think there are any differences between the KAV-250a and KAV-500?"I don't know, my best guess would be that they sound a lot, a like. The biggest difference in sound, between amps cut from the same cloth (I...
Krell KAV-250a/3 or KAV-500?
I found an old Stereophile review of your speakers, the Kav-500 will drive them with ease. BTW...use balanced connections with Krell amps.Dave
Krell KAV-250a/3 or KAV-500?
I did hook the Kav-500 to my 4ohm Apogee Duetta Signatures while I owned it. As I stated, the Kav-500 usually drove my center, and rears...a Krell Ksa-250 drove the Duetta Signature front L+R speakers at that time. The little Kav-500, had no proble...
What does more power do for Magnepans?
02-22-08: Zippyy"That's because an Elephants trunk contains over 40,000 muscles"I guess that sums it up then...more muscle can be a good thing for Maggies, and Elephants.Dave
Krell KAV-250a/3 or KAV-500?
I would go with more power then. The Kav-250 probably has twice the transformer size of the Kav-500...the center and mains will hit it hard, as that is where most of the sound is in movies.I used a Ksa-250 with my Kav-500...Apogee Duettas for main...
Top 5 recievers of the 70's and 80's ????
Wish I could remember the models?...I had a couple of them.LUXMAN....very nice sound.Dave
Krell KAV-250a/3 or KAV-500?
I had a Kav-500 3-channel driving my center and rears for a couple of years...a nice little amp. I would guess that the two amps have the same sonic signature...the Kav-250 would have a good deal more, "power to spare"....you may want to consider ...
What does more power do for Magnepans?
One way to make dipole bass, sound more like monopole bass...(which has more punch and slam), is to apply HUGE amounts of power to the dipole bass panel. In truth, and fact...it still does not work. If you need slam and boom...stick with large cone...
Frequencies? Bass, Mids, Hi's? Range?
