VPI Scoutmaster is showing signs of life
Thanks Dan, I've looked at the Nanomount system, very intriguing. The MintLP is a no brainer. I have the Sandbox, don't have the springs yet.I'm sure some of these details will be put on hold while I try to get the measure of the Cayin. I suspect ...
What after VH Audio Chela
I had those hooked up to single driver speakers (Jordan JX 92S) in a bedroom system. I thought they were big bang for the buck. Comparible to Synergistic Resolution Reference, a little warmer tonal balance. I think you would have to spend a lot mo...
Anyone NOT like the sound of VPI?
Madfloyd, I sort of missed it, but you're wondering about the Rega. I formerly had a Rega P25 with Grado Sonata, Sumiko Blue Point Special, ARC SP9 MKII, Pro-ject Tube Box, always thought that bass somewhat lightweight as well. The Tube Box improv...
Anyone NOT like the sound of VPI?
Johnbrown, I have the SDS and converted to thread drive. This did not greatly change my perception of a relatively lightweight bass. YMMV
Anyone NOT like the sound of VPI?
Your bass response issues being resolved by the digital makes the tt setup the obvious culprit. Attending to other issues will only delay your getting the tt setup right. The wall shelf will make little or no difference in the bass, I've tried both...
Anyone NOT like the sound of VPI?
Madfloyd, I've complained about a similar problem on these forums as well. Specifically, a relatively lightweight tonal balance, the bass doesn't have enough impact or fullness for me.I'm not ready to give up on my Scoutmaster with 10.5i arm at th...
Mint Tractor
Looks like I'll be getting the Mint!Stan, Harry is not correct, at least not with my 10.5i arm. I have the DB protractor, the VPI jig does not line up with the DB protractor. It is off by quite a large margin at the outer null point, closer at the...
Has anybody tried the BPT-9 powercord?
Jinman, the Flavor 4 is a very nice cord. I use the AirSine on my PLC, very good cord if you can stretch the budget.
best used VPI table?
It all depends on the arm and wiring with the VPIs. The arms with the Discovery cable are darker sounding, the Valhalla cabled tonearms are much more open on top.
Has anybody tried the BPT-9 powercord?
I was not very impressed using it on my BPT 3.5 sig, lacks resolution compared to other PCs I've tried.
Audio Magic and other Power Line Conditioners
I don't know that you will get what you're looking for in another PLC. I've tried all the Shunyatas (not the V Ray), Audience Adept Response, and most of PS Audio line. All of them affected the sound in the exact manner you speak of. I've also not...
Channel Imbalance - HELP
If I understand your reversing leads correctly, it points to your amp or speakers as the culprit. Measuring output at amp outs with DMM is a more precise way of determining channel imbalance.
how to correct channel imbalance?
I've been dealing with this exact same issue since I've been in my present room. In my case it is an asymetric room giving greater boundary reinforcement to one channel. When you have this issue with a room, balance controls may not entirely solve...
Good rock LPs not rare?
I started at least one of those bad lp threads. I will qualify my statements, at least in part. As I've continued to 'voice' and tweak my vinyl rig in, I've gotten more classic rock lps to sound better. However, these recordings remain less than s...
Cartridge for Thorens TD-160 also Phonoamp
I have a Thorens TD 160 and was seeking some cartridge advice. The Audio Technica AT 150Ti was most often cited. I haven't tried it yet, but when I get back around to using this table, that will be the cartridge I purchase.
