Is there a better DAC than the Schiit Bifrost for $300?
The Modi 3 might be a bit of a step back from the Modi 2. The Modi 2 has a linear power supply and the Modi 3 has a switcher, and likely a cheap one given its price point.
Ever Bought an Audio Product that was Stupid Good for the Money?
I found another budget gem. The small and light weight Rega RS1 bookshelf speaker. Its not picky at all about placement and sounds much bigger than the BBC types of monitors. Mine sits on a bookshelf not far from the wall and it sounds brilliant f...
Harbeth P3ESR Anniversary edition. Worth the Upgrade?
Hi Yogi, distance between drivers is what I mean. Most 2 way designs have the woofer and tweeter closer to each other in physical proximity, presumably to create something closer to point source sound for coherence and imaging. Where are you cross...
Harbeth P3ESR Anniversary edition. Worth the Upgrade?
I rarely hear of folks using these with subs. The sealed box would be easier to blend vs a ported design.
Harbeth P3ESR Anniversary edition. Worth the Upgrade?
Definitely reaching the laws of diminishing marginal returns. A $600 upgrade for a ~5% improvement. No doubt these will be collectible though and hold their value.Does anyone know what the crossover point is? I’m guessing it’s pretty high with tha...

I think I know what you are looking for. A purist single driver system driven by a SET amp with no negative feedback. That means no crossover and no whizzer, as a whizzer is basically a mechanical crossover. You are okay without a super tweeter, a...
Best bookshelf speakers
A MTM design is likely your best chance at getting big sound from a bookshelf on a modest budget.
Do people really just not get it that their items are not selling...
FWIW, the budget hifi products have gotten so good in the last few years that it makes selling traditional hifi more difficult....especially separates. There are buyers, but they are fewer and farther between unless you are selling McIntosh, Prima...
84k speakers... Big disappointment
They use Ice Power amps, which is the opposite end of the spectrum from your SET amps.
Advise on book shelf speakers less then $750
The Uni Fi is excellent, but I’m not sure it is so excellent at 50-65db. That is whisper quiet.

Advice for killer desktop speakers
The blumenstein orcas are very nice if you get the ones with the limited edition drivers - fostex fe83 SOL. They need bass support below 100hz so an 8 inch REL sub works well. These have much more resolution than the A5s and no crossover to smear ...
