Bookshelf speakers for near-field (desktop) use LSX wireless.
What can anyone say about Quarter Wavelength transmission line enclosure design ? Ohm Walsh speakers use a transmission line. The bass has real impact and slam. Nothing polite about the bass it produces.Salk Sound also uses TL. Never heard them but the bass measurements are impressive for the speaker sizes.Quarter wave is popul...
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other??? Current Class D has come a long way compared to a few years ago, who wouldn't want good amplification which is more efficient, takes up less space, runs cooler... and is possibly better value depending on which manufacturer you choose.Yes Class D ...
Used Market Savings vs. The Dealer Experience This thread is really about your guilt. Using the dealer's showroom as a discovery tool and then doing something like buying Sasha's used for 15k instead of 30k.If I were in your shoes, I might buy the Sasha's used for 15k and then go back to the ...
Why so many used focals? I just looked at the Focal’s for sale and it just mostly looks like dealers trying to sell their inventory. Some manufacturers won’t allow prices to be displayed online by their dealers...not the case with Focal.
Has anyone added a small subwoofer to 2 channel and been thrilled with the result? In a smaller room like that I would be looking at REL T5 or Sumiko S5. The larger subs will be difficult to tame without DSP or some type of setup with 2-4 subs to flatten out the room response.I also don’t think that the difference between high l...
Surprised at this Chinese powered speakers for peanuts... Mistral Audio is a better example of hifi design stealing.
Best bookshelf speakers <$2000 These are luxury products and I think most of us are expecting a luxury buying experience. Ordering something on the internet with a generous return policy is NOT a luxury buying experience. Buying my Focals was, without a doubt, a luxury buying e...
The Future of Audio Amplification Amps with distortion in the low .00X% tend to sound very crisp and precise, but cold and analytical. This is true, but the question is, how did they get that super low decimal? Adding too much feedback to the signal? Probably...
The Future of Audio Amplification Class D amps sound cold and analytical to me. Maybe its all the feedback or the output filter. Meat is ultimately taken off the bones somehow.Having said that, Class D is the future for better or worse. There is quite a bit of cost savings involve...
Affordable integrated pure class A? The soon to be released Schiit class A amps in the Vidar case at $800 each are going to be little monsters. I’m not sure that I would buy Class A used. They degrade faster over time due to the heat.
Is there a better DAC than the Schiit Bifrost for $300? The Modi 3 might be a bit of a step back from the Modi 2. The Modi 2 has a linear power supply and the Modi 3 has a switcher, and likely a cheap one given its price point.
Ever Bought an Audio Product that was Stupid Good for the Money? I found another budget gem. The small and light weight Rega RS1 bookshelf speaker. Its not picky at all about placement and sounds much bigger than the BBC types of monitors. Mine sits on a bookshelf not far from the wall and it sounds brilliant f...
Harbeth P3ESR Anniversary edition. Worth the Upgrade? Hi Yogi, distance between drivers is what I mean. Most 2 way designs have the woofer and tweeter closer to each other in physical proximity, presumably to create something closer to point source sound for coherence and imaging. Where are you cross...
Harbeth P3ESR Anniversary edition. Worth the Upgrade? I rarely hear of folks using these with subs. The sealed box would be easier to blend vs a ported design. |
