The New Outlaw Audio RR2150 stereo receiver ? FYI, there is a review of the RR2150 in the current issue of Stereophile (now on the newstands).
Denon 3910 or Denon DVP 3910 The two units you mention are the same thing. The full, correct model name is the DVD-3910, and it is a universal player. The 3910 has not been on the market for terribly long, so it's a bit early in the model life to judge its reliability. I have ...
Best Multichannel Amp - ??? The Theta Dreadnaught should be on your very short list. It has gotten excellent reviews by many people, including Richard Hardesty who selected it as the best multichannel amp from a group that he tested about a year ago.
do you remember It would have been 1964, when I was 22, at a long-defunct stereo store in Seattle, WA, called Electricraft. They had a store in the downtown business area, and I remember wandering through there thinking "what incredible audio toys". I don't remem...

Small quality HiFi subs reaching 22Hz Here's an alternative idea: get a pair of subs, rather than just one, as a pair will provide lots more "oomph". Further, if placed properly, a pair of subs will load the room much better than one. Outlaw Audio has a good sub (the LFM-1) that was d...
Small quality HiFi subs reaching 22Hz It would be very helpful if you start by giving us your definition of "small". Also a general price range.
Sand and shot? One point which has not been made here is that sand and lead have different absorptive/deadening properties which complement one another. I mix the sand and lead shot together and have found the combo to be very effective.
Vandersteen Question Having owned several versions of the 2C series, and then upgrading to 3A's and then 3A Sig's, I didn't find that the upgrade from 2Ce to 2Ce Signature yielded much improvement. If you are looking for a real upgrade, make the jump to the 3A's (and ...
SCOUTMASTER TO ARIES 3 FWIW, Harry Pearson of TAS chose the Super Scoutmaster (SSM) and the TNT HR-X for "Golden Ear" awards. He chose the SSM over the various Aries tables, which I thought interesting. You might want to look at the article that Pearson wrote about the ...
Denon 5910 / 3910 vs. Marantz DV 9600 When I was getting ready last year to replace my older Pioneer DVD player with a universal player, I auditioned the Denon 5900, the Marantz 9500 (virtually identical to the 9600), and the Denon 3910. My selection criteria were, in order of importa...
What cable for Vandersteen 2WQ subs Braro:I did try the included Vandy cables, but was not terribly impressed with them. When I changed my main speaker cables from 8TC to Alpha-Core MI2, I had plenty of 8TC on hand and used it for the 2Wq's. The difference between the Vandy wires an...
What cable for Vandersteen 2WQ subs I'm using Kimber 8TC wire for my pair of Vandy 2Wq's -- works great. For the main speakers (3A Sig's), I'm using Alpha-Core Goertz MI2.

Levinson 431, Theta Dreadnaught, Classe CA2200? Richard Hardesty, who publishes the "Audiophile Perfectionist Journal", did an extensive review of amps -- both stereo and multichannel -- about a year ago, and the Theta Dreadnaught was his top choice for multichannel. Based on what I've read and... |
