Spendor D7, D9 but no love Classic 100?
By Classic 100, do you mean the SP-100? If so, it is indeed a classic.  I had a pair of the original SP-100 (before the later variations called the R, R2 etc) for over 15 years and enjoyed them the whole time.  It was often called the “music lover...
DIY is not all about saving money
Erik,I agree with much of your post but I have to take exception to your comment about speaker cables and internal wiring.  You really should try some Audio Note Lexus Copper Litz for the internal wiring of your speakers.  It’s not all that expens...
How much do we at A'gon influence the industry?
Zero impact.  The few people posting on Agon forums are just talking in an echo chamber.  There is no impact on the industry or even the larger audiophile community.  Most audiophiles I know do not read read Agon.
Really...My favorite power tube is reissue that's not widely popular
@larryi I have never had 350B tubes to try, but I do have 4 sets of 6L6GC tubes that I have been trying in my new 6L6 amps.  These are RCA blackplates, GE gray plates, SED Winged C and new Tung Sol STR.  The RCA and GE are from the 1960s, the SED ...
Really...My favorite power tube is reissue that's not widely popular
There are at least 3 Tung Sol reissue tubes that can be used in an amp designed for 6L6 outputs—the 7581a, 6L6G and 6L6GC-STR.  I recently bought two pairs of the STR version and have just started breaking them in.  So far I am very impressed.  Th...

@noromance The stock Eico amplifiers are based on the Mullard 5-20 design.  It is a tried and true performer.  The Jim Nichols circuit referred to above is a different design that uses a floating paraphase inverter instead of the Mullard long tail...

@metman  I suspect the amps I am using right now look and sound similar to yours.  I used HF-22 chassis (monoblocks), stripped them of all parts, and then rebuilt them using Jim Nichols’ circuit.  I kept the Eico output transformers (same as in HF...

Metman, Can you share some details on your “Eico HF-20 JWN” amps?  Are these Eicos rebuilt by Jim Nichols using his input/driver circuitry?
Easy to drive, outstandingly natural sound from 40-50 Hz up.....AN-E, O/96, others?
Mitch2,i owned the Spendor SP-100 for over 15 years and used it with a variety of amps ranging from Classe CA-300 (300 watts per channel) at one extreme to a single ended 46 tube amp (1 watt) at the other extreme, with lots of other tube amps in b...

Spendor SP-100.
What power cord do you like most on your amp ?
Audio Note ISIS cable with Furutech FI-50 NCF connectors.  Tube electronics.
Highest BUILD quality tube amps?
Emotive Audio Design (not Emotiva).  Solid design and construction.  Point to point wiring.  Conservative operating points so long tube life and excellent long term reliability.
Audiogon’s transaction fees
Why should there be any mystery about this?  The fees should be posted prominently on the site.
inherent design flaws with a 3 way, 15" / 8" / horn (large tower) speaker?
Shkong78, you are a lucky fellow to have heard those WE speakers.  Do you know which WE units these were?
inherent design flaws with a 3 way, 15" / 8" / horn (large tower) speaker?
Two examples of the woofers I was talking about are the Altec 416 and Jensen P15LL.  My two pairs of speakers each use the P15LL which is a high efficiency 15” with light paper cone and an Alnico magnet.  It was used in the Jensen Imperial horn sp...
