Triplanar vii - upgrade tonearm and ic wiring Ralph,Do you know if a wire upgrade is being offered for existing Triplanars?
Triplanar vii - upgrade tonearm and ic wiring Stringreen, I would like to get the LP-S but, unless something has changed recently, it isn't available in the US.
Triplanar vii - upgrade tonearm and ic wiring Looks like there are two threads running on this. Here's an edited version of what I posted on the other one:As you know, you already have a great sounding setup. I know this is true since I have a Galibier Gavia with Triplanar VII and Benz LP and...
Triplanar vii - upgrade tonearm and ic wiring Another option is to upgrade the Triplanar. I wasn't aware of this until today but Triplanar now has 3 models---the VII-U2 Classic, the VII-U2-SE, and the U-12. Both the SE version and the U-12 have a carbon fiber arm and silver wiring.
Devore or Harbeths to replace my ESL63s? Thanks for the update Andrew.
Triplanar vii - upgrade tonearm and ic wiring As you know, you already have a great sounding setup. I know this is true since I have a Galibier Gavia with Triplanar VII and Benz LP and it sounds very nice indeed. Putting aside cartridge issues, which tend to be rather personal, you might want...
Thiel with "Warmest" Midrange? 2.7 vs 3.7 vs Older In my experience, Thiels need tubes. I had 3.6s for 8 years starting in 1993 and I was able to try a number of different amps on them including Classe DR-10 and CA300, high power Forte, a pair of custom 2A3 push-pull monos, push-pull 300Bs, Cary 4...
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil Reminder: Duelund CAST caps are quite sensitive to how they are mounted. In my experience, if the cap is lying flat on a wood surface, there are annoying colorations: a thick, excessively warm bass, and dark high frequencies. I have tried several ...
Monty Alexander lp recommendations Another vote for Ivory and Steel. Lots of fun! I heard Monty Alexander about 20 years ago in a small club with no more than 40 people present. He puts on a great performance!
Buying a used cartridge...tell us your tale. I bought a Benz LP that was described by the seller as "nearly new, not even fully broken in." I was skeptical but it turned out to be 100% true. From the other side of the table, I can vouch for the several used cartridges I have sold. They were ...
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil Jet, I believe we are talking about the same thing when you say the CAST caps sound "dark" and I say they are "a bit lacking in air and high-frequency extension." I could hear this when I put the first one in but it became more of a problem when I...
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil Good idea Grannyring! Everything will be truly "warmed" up.
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil Interesting Jet! It does appear that my reactions to V-Caps vs. Duelunds are a minority view, but I can live with that. It won't be the first time! My system may need some extra zing in the HFs or maybe it's my 62-year old ears. In any case, I agr...
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil To my ears, the CAST caps are all a bit lacking in air and high-frequency extension. I posted that several months ago in this thread and I still feel that way. That is true of the 100v pancake CAST caps as well as the high-voltage cylindrical CAST...
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil I know this thread is mostly about capacitors in speaker crossovers but there have also been a number of comments about caps in electronics. For the past year I have been using a 1uf Duelund CAST as the output coupler for my phono preamp. Prior to... |
