Harbeth SLH5 plus. Top or bottom binding post? The best solution for bi-wiring posts is generally to attach one speaker lead to one set of posts and the other lead to the other set. For example, connect the + speaker lead to the + woofer post and connect the - speaker lead to the -tweeter pos...
Furutech AC Receptacles Jazzonthehudson,Like you I have a GTX-D (R). Mine is the NCF version with the aluminum housing and the cover plate. That's the only Furutech outlet I have tried so I can't comment on how this differs from the non-NCF version or how the outlet so...
Furutech AC Receptacles There is just no point in arguing in a forum whether "burn in" of something (anything) is real or not. Either you have tried this and noticed a difference, or not. I have experienced the changes with burn-in many times and with all sorts of comp...
Tri-Planar Vll "SE Upgrade" This thread unfortunately got way off track. Looking through all the posts, I only saw one comment about the upgraded wiring vs. the stock Discovery wiring. Does anyone else have any reactions to the upgrades for the Triplanar, especially the wi...
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil I have several pairs of Path Audio resistors and they were all the correct value. I didn't like their sound quality though.I am surprised this thread is still continuing. Haven't all possible issues about component part quality been covered by now?
What speaker cable made a major difference in the sound quality of your speakers?? Audio Note SPx silver Litz, one of the few components I doubt I will ever replace. The retail price is very expensive but I managed to buy mine as a demo from an Audio Note dealer within your budget.
Top resistors Sbl, I am afraid I can't help you. I abandoned my Duelund resistors (regular and CAST) several years ago. Same thing with my Path Audios. All of them left too much of a fingerprint on the music. Therefore I went back to where I started---with ...
Do re -wired BI wired speaker cables need break in time ? The new bi-wiring setup has new connectors---spades or bananas---and they need to break in before you can evaluate the sound quality. When I change spades, I allow them to break in for 40 hours or so before listening.
The best coupling caps in power amp ?? Mundorf, Infinicap ?? Autospec,I suspect you have been out of touch with the boutique cap market for a few years. InfiniCaps (and WonderCaps before them) are quite dated and no longer in the running for a high quality coupling cap, IMO. The regular Mundorf Supreme is...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? Thanks.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? Alan, where do you buy the Jenna Labs hookup wire?
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil Grannyring, I did a lot of resistor comparisons including the Duelunds when I was trying to get the very best sound out of the crossover for my high-efficiency speakers, and I am pretty sure I reported my conclusions somewhere in this long thread....
Acoustic Zen Crescendo speaker crossover capacitors ... who makes them? Grannyring, what happened to your Harbeth 40.1 pair?
Double run of 2 sets of speaker cables from stereo amp to single binding post speakers That type of wiring used to be called "shotgun" wiring. Sometimes using a second set of identical wires in parallel with the first set is a nice improvement, but sometimes not. I have a bi-wire pair of Audio Note SPx cables which have both + con...
Cardas RCA Silver connectors I didn't have any trouble soldering wires to the tabs on the KLE Absolute RCAs and I moved them from one cable to another a couple times without any problems. The Absolutes sound pretty good too except for the bass which is too soft for my tastes. |
