Zu Omen or Tekton Lore Andysf, no need to get defensive about your Glen Beck comment. Your reaction was quite normal. Any fan of GB can't be all that bright.
Is there really a need for panel speakers in 2012 Taters, conventional cones cannot reproduce the sound of an orchestra like panels can. Have you ever heard massed strings through a panel? That alone is a very good reason to have panels.
Pro-Ject Phono Box II USB Does he want cd resolution only or higher?
Audio Technica AT150MLX preamp suggestions? Hi, I have experience with loading this cart and I can tell you that with my monolithic pre set at 100pf, I like it better than the 0pf setting. Total capacitance around 200pf works best so if you can use low capacitance interconnects like blue je...
Which DAC w/ More Top to Bottom Extension? Try the firestone spitfire I have for sale for sonic weight and oomph:) It would be a step up from the HRT.
Pros and Cons of "Staying with" Analog and Vinyl My experience is similar to David12, some of the best classical records I picked up cost me $1 at the record store and they were mint or unplayed. Why not pick them up? Yes, a lot of older classical recordings that were transfered to CD sound hars...
Dac suggestions to pair with Squeezebox Touch Crooner, thanks for clearing it up for me.Vhiner, I had the dacmagic and I found the top end to be a bit unnatural and harsh at times. Great dynamics though.
Dac suggestions to pair with Squeezebox Touch Crooner, I have a bifrost on order and I am concerned about your comment regarding bass. Can you elaborate? Compared to which dacs or players do you find it bass shy? Thanks.
surface noise and cartridge/ phono pre questions Hello Lgear, glad you are enjoying the 140LC. Since you got it from me, let me add that AT line contact and microline stylii really need to be perpendicular to the groove to produce best results. Even if the angle is slightly off, the surface nois...
Any devices like Squeezbox Touch but handle 192/24 Looks like the netgear ntv550 and Asus O!play handle 24/96 files. Any one here tried these as an alternative to the touch?
Good sub $100 cartridge for Thorens TD 160 Hi Raul, not direct A/B comparison since I did not own them at the same time. I would say the detail retrieval of 120/140LC is superior. A bit brighter & clearer presentation than AT95SA. As for price, turntableneedles offers the option of upg...
Good sub $100 cartridge for Thorens TD 160 Agree with Raul. You can do even better with a AT120e with an ATN140LC stylus which is a nude shibata for the same amount or less if you get a used at120e.
upgrade for less than $1k I have a few carts lying around but use a denon dl110 most of the time, particularly for classical. Phono stage is a monolithic ps1. Ths364, I thought Rega sound was decent, I do think my current tt/cart combo is more refined though.
speakers under 1,500 excellent top to bottom sound Revel F12.
need to down size to monitors Dynaudio DM 2/8 or 2/10. The 2/10 has great bass due to the 9.5" woofer, easily hits 40Hz in a medium sized room. Both models are a great buy for the money. |
